Quick Price Update
Quick Price Update v3.0.0: find products by exact ID, ID range or category, then update prices and quantities in one table, for Zen Cart 1.5.8 through 3.0.0, as an encapsulated plugin
GitHub: https://github.com/dbltoe/Quick_Price_Update
Download: https://github.com/dbltoe/Quick_Price_Update/releases/tag/v3.0.0
Zen Cart: 1.5.8a, 2.0.x, 2.1.0, 2.2.x, 2.3.x and 3.0.0, one package
PHP: 7.4 through 8.5
License: GPL-2.0
What it does
Changing prices one product at a time is slow. This adds Catalog > Quick Price Update: find the products you want, type the new prices and quantities right in the table, and save them all with one button.
- Exact IDs and ranges:
12, 15, 40-55. Zen Cart's own search matches IDs loosely, so searching for 12 also brings up 112 and 120; this one doesn't. - By category, with or without everything in its subcategories (linked products included), plus name or model, Active/Inactive, sorting, and 20 to 200 rows per page.
- Edit in the table. Changed rows are highlighted and counted, and only those rows are saved.
- Checked before anything is written.
1,234.50works;12,50is refused rather than misread. A row that doesn't pass comes back highlighted with what you typed. - No overwriting each other. If a product's price or quantity changed somewhere else after your page loaded, that row is skipped and you're told which one.
- The storefront stays right. Saving a price also refreshes the value Zen Cart sorts by price with, so price sorting and "Starting at" prices update too.
- Flags for products on special (with the special price), priced by attributes, Call for Price and Always Free, since shoppers don't pay the price shown as it stands.
- A currency icon on Catalog > Categories/Products. Click it on a product row to open that product, or on a category row to open the whole category. It follows your default currency: $, €, £, ¥, ₹ and 20 more, or your currency's own symbol (kr, CHF) when there's no icon for it.
Admins without the page in their profile don't see it, its menu entry, or the icons.
Encapsulated. One folder under zc_plugins/, installed from Plugin Manager. No core files are changed, no tables are added, and there are no settings. Uninstalling takes it off the menu and leaves nothing behind.
Installing
- Upload
zc_plugins/QuickPriceUpdate/so it lands at<store root>/zc_plugins/QuickPriceUpdate/v1.0.0/. - Admin > Modules > Plugin Manager > Quick Price Update > Install.
- Open Catalog > Quick Price Update.
For admins who aren't superusers, add the page to their profile in Admins > Admin Profiles.
Coming from ianhg's Quick Price Update or Quick Price & Quantity Update
Thanks to ianhg, and to Scott Wilson for Quick Quantity Update, for the idea. Those replace core's admin/category_product_listing.php with an edited 1.5.8 copy, which on 1.5.8a and later also undoes core fixes made since. Put back core's own copy of that file for your version, remove the language lines their instructions had you add, then install this one. This plugin is written from scratch and shares no code with them.
The full documentation (readme.html) is inside the plugin and linked from the Plugin Manager panel.
Reporting a problem
Please include your Zen Cart and PHP versions and what you saw. If a page goes blank or something doesn't save, look in logs/ for a myDEBUG- file from that moment and attach it.
