Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

Thanks DivaVocals! I think I mentioned in my post that it wasn't tested out so that's one reason I left a detailed message. Let us know how it goes! Most things I mentioned were minor ######## like "readme" files or a stupid dashes in files. So easily can be missed for the overall picture like you analyzed. Thanks so much for looking into it!

No worries.. just wanted to make sure I re-reiterated that it was an untested theory..:laugh::laugh:

Most things I mentioned were minor ######## like "readme" files or a stupid dashes in files. So easily can be missed for the overall picture like you analyzed. Thanks so much for looking into it!

So here's the results of my Day 2 testing..

Recap:
This is a vanilla install of Zen Cart v 1.3.8a with WOZ v 1.301. (http://zen138blog2.overthehillweb.com/)

Results with the WOZ sidebox positioned on the left side:

  • ANY blog posts dated AFTER the initial blog posts will throw the "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." error.
  • New posts will appear in the "Recent Posts" lists, but do not appear on the main blog pages, or the category and archive listings.
    Results with the WOZ sidebox positioned on the right side:
    Oddly if I move the WOZ sidebox to the right side, then these issues no longer occurred.
    **
    Conclusion: **

    Clearly WOZ behaves differently (correctly) depending on WHERE you position the sidebox. I've tested some theories having to do with the position of the sidebar in the WordPress template, but that netted no different result whatsoever. I’ve NO explanation for this bizarre behavior..

New WOZ test store following these instructions.

misty:

Tested..sideboxes tried both right and left sides...no problems
encountered...

*The only time had problems with woz was when installing WordPress into *
different directory to zencart, so since then
always use following method...

Install zencart first, with own seperate database...TEST...
then install
Wordpress into same root/directory as zencart, uploading all WP files.

Temporarily RENAME ZENCART INDEX.PHP file FIRST
or it will be overwritten by wordpress index.php file.

WordPress has seperate database to zencart...
Get wordpress working on its own, testing admin functions/posting functions...

Rename WordPress index.php file and reinstate zencart index.php

Then add WOZ 1.301...following Hira's instructions..

Suggestion.. always have ZenCart using Classic Template when installing
wordpress/woz ...

Only added one post because regardless of how many posts I add, the result I've gotten in the past is the same.

  • ANY blog posts dated AFTER the initial blog posts will throw the “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” error.
  • Oddly, if I move the WOZ sidebox to the right side, then this issue no longer occurred.

I'll add posts tomorrow morning to see if these same results bear out or if I get a different result.

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

This sounds like just what I want. Please give me more detail about how you did this. my head is spinning from all the info in this thread. also, my current blog is on blogspot (google) would love to keep it that way but I am flexable if it means tieing all together. also can you share the site address so I can see how it looks.

sue

DivaVocals:

Though I opted not to screw around using the embedding feature of this mod (I am using only this mods sideboxes), the main reason for using it was to give the client the ability to easily add article style content to her site without having to pay me to help her with this task.

While EZ pages could do this, my client was having a difficult time grasping how to add content using EZ Pages, and then adding links to the EZ page in her sideboxes. I needed to give her an easier method for adding content. Plus a nice bonus is that WordPress has built in content archiving features which means my client doesn't have to keep coming to me to create content archives for her. Now she can add pages to her heart's content..

The WOZ sideboxes make the blog content easily available from ZenCart and the regularly refreshed blog content probably has the added bonus of improving her SE rankings.. Though I'm not embedding the blog in ZenCart, I used WP links along with the WOZ sideboxes to tie the two together (very nicelyI'm sure her blog has driven traffic to her website.

sueCan't use this mod with Blogspot blogs. This module is meant for WordPress blogs hosted on your webserver only (as opposed to WordPress blogs hosted on WordPress.com)..

Information about my WOZ sideboxes only solution is posted several times in this support thread.. Suggest you read through this thread to get some background on how it works and some of the "issues" that have been discovered.. You might want to start back at page 108 to get the full picture of this mod as well suggestions for other blog linking/embedding options including testing information..

As you read through you will see that there is lots of details and summary posts which include referential links (including links to the WOZ sideboxes only solution you are inquiring about). Also you will want to read through the WOZ readme files to get a better understanding of what this mod does.

HTH..

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

DivaVocals:

:smile: nods in agreement

Yes and yes.. Also as I stated in my earlier post (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=822597&postcount=1076) I am using the latest version of WordPress (v2.9)

My conclusion is this:
WOZ v1.4 is buggy and simply does not work. NO ONE should be using this module unless you are ready and able to troubleshoot and correct the issues with this module yourself

MY Recommendations???:

Here's a thread that discusses all the various blog embedding options. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144224

Frankly the only thing I will probably continue to use from this module are the sideboxes. Even if v1.3 works, it falls to hell in a handbasket when I apply any SEO module to it.. I know that the key to the conflicts with WOZ and SEO modules lies in the code that is in the WOZ configuration file. (I'm just not sure what the correction to the code should be)

I will continue to monitor this thread, and try testing things here and there, but frankly IMO there are BETTER methods for embedding blogs that don't require this much hammering to work. I wish Hira could help, but sadly that doesn't seem to be a reality.

Where is link to version 1.3?

Never feel stupid! I wondered at first myself for a minute! I just wish I could work on my site again! Don't want to in case I have to load a backup. Hoping somebody loads Numinx with the side box app to get feedback. Good luck to you!

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

magicmike:

The plugin name is "Another Wordpress Classifieds Plugin"

If you have a WOZ setup and want to test it out for yourself the plugin is here.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin/

The standalone install of the plugin on wordpress is here.
http://www.michaelouellet.com/
The link Trade Page under Pages is the plugin.

But it does not matter what page I am on on my Zen Cart store I get the
Fatal error: Call to a member function add_current_page() on a non-object in /home/elektrk2/public_html/isellortrade/includes/autoload_func.php on line 90

and nothing else the site is blank except for the error code.
I have to deactivate the AWPC plugin on wordpress for my website to come back.

hi, magicmike,

Have you fixed above problem?
I came across same as yours.:smile:

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

I just installed WordPress via a SimpleScript to a directory ("blog") at the root level within my Zen-Cart. It installed perfectly and I followed instructions in regard to the ZC implementation. The blog is working (https://www.db8zone.com/blog) but my storefront has disappeared. PLEASE HELP - I haven't modified any other files. Is this due to a database error of some kind? WordPress is not using the same database as ZC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

I am using the latest version of Zen Cart and the latest version of WOZ. I have read through the entire forum extensively, and there seems to be a lot of conflicting information and even some technical help for related mods that does not apply to WOZ.

My website is: http://www.OurCollegeTown.net
The blog address is: http://www.ourcollegetown.net/BearZone/

I have the mod installed and the sidebar shows up correctly on the zen cart website. However, whenever any of the links are clicked, I get blank pages.

The links appear as: http://www.ourcollegetown.net/?p=156

Is this the correct format of the links? I noticed that on the websites that work, the links sometimes carry a different prefix: ?main_page=wordpress&p=3

However, on my site, even http://www.ourcollegetown.net/?main_page=wordpress shows a blank page.

I have the following code in my html_header file:

<!-- for woz BOF -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" />
<link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />
<?php if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' ); ?>
<?php woz_wp_head(); ?>
<!-- for woz EOF -->

I have the following in my Wordpress-config file:

$woz_install=0;

if (ABSPATH != NULL && file_exists(ABSPATH . 'wp-config.php')) {
  $woz_install = 1;
  define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
  $wp_did_header = true;

  require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-config.php');
  wp();

  $i = strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
  $req = substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
  if($req == '?'){
    $_GET['main_page'] = FILENAME_WORDPRESS;
  }

  if(is_feed()){
    gzip_compression();
    require_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . '/template-loader.php');
    exit();
  }
}

?>

Do you have any idea of how to get the content to show up? I have already tried Kiddos fix, and not noticed any difference. I have since uninstalled it.

If you read through the support thread you will see that the general consensus on ver 1.4 of WOZ (the latest version) is as follows: It doesn't work, and no one has a clue how to get it to work..:smile:
