Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

Thanks again Diva. I just finished an email to my client and broached the subject of an upgrade to 1.5 to fix this issue and get a handle on what mods are installed (she doesn't know). There's been quite a few cooks stirring the soup here.

Had to have to "come to Jesus" talk with my client too.. It will still be a PAINFUL migration.. sigh

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

Hi All,

Been using this mod for a while now and havent really found any issues apart from what im about to describe.

I have bee having issues with my website returning an error on validation, stating the following
The character encoding specified in the HTTP header (utf-8) is different from the value in the <meta> element (iso-8859-1)

Looking through my scripts i can see that the Zencart setup is set to iso-8859-1 however the wordpress install and this mod uses utf-8. Some how it seems as thought his mod has over ridden the standard zencart characterset. Is this possible?

Also having issues through google webmast tools with the following

HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server ErrorDate: Mon, 27 Aug 2012 21:18:06 GMTServer: Apache/2.0.64 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.64 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMTCache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0Pragma: no-cacheX-Pingback: http://www.flowersbypostdirect.co.uk/blog/xmlrpc.phpContent-Encoding: gzipVary: Accept-EncodingSet-Cookie: zenid=886f0eb30b0607cf2762a59710a3f9f6; path=/; domain=.www.flowersbypostdirect.co.uk; HttpOnlyConnection: closeTransfer-Encoding: chunkedContent-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8This is while trying to 'fetch as googlebot' through google webmaster tools. It looks like the wordpress install is again over riding the standard zencart files and also setting the charset to utf-8

Is there an easy way around this?

Regards

Paul

Incorrectly written DEAD mod.. Don't expect much in terms of fixes being posted here..

Instead of trying to put a bandaid on a bullet wound why not use a properly constructed WordPress embedding mod.. (AKA Numinix)

Change zen cart to utf-8, it should be anyway and if you get customers with non-standard-English characters like é, ä, ø etc you won't come across like an amateur when it throws weird characters instead. Numinix's site shows how to do this and I think there is a script in the fee downloads here from A Berezin that converts your db to utf-8. Definitely should do it regardless to polish your site to customers. Little things like them being able to spell their name correctly on your site go a long way towards professionalism, even if they never notice it they also will not notice that their name or address is full of strange characters....

This aside from whether or not to use this mod the way it is. Personally, I never had a problem making it work, I had to do some tweaking which I can't remember now since it's been so long but I decided a blog was more effort that it was worth for my particular application so I removed it and haven't thought of it since until I happened to be curious enough to see where this discussion currently is. Pity it's not a straightforward mod, but it sounds like Numinix's solution works. I use many of Jeff's mods, both free and commercial, and can attest to his thorough zen cart expertise.

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

Just wondering if you will ever do a version of Wordpress on Zen Cart for 1.3.9 and higher. I have 1.3.9, and cannot install the 1.3.8. I also do not like the alternatives I have seen out there, including one that puts my Zen Cart in my Wordpress blog. I do not want this, I like what you have been doing better.

I haven't been able to install WOZ on my zen cart. I have 1.3.9h, and when I click on TOOLS, I don't see the Wordpress on Zen Cart option to click on.

Let me squash a rumour first.. There are no WORKING options that will embed Zen Cart inside WordPress.. Not sure which one you think you found, but there ain't that many options.. I've tested them all and NONE of them work.. If you know something the rest of us aren't aware of in this realm do share..

I have no idea what you mean, but did you read the above posts?

There probably is, but you would need to write the code yourselves, but why would anyone want to import to WP?

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

I have recently install WoZ and the module itself is fully functional as far as I can tell.

Sadly, since installing we're having what appears to be rampant character encoding problems. Things like quotation marks and bullet points are rendering with the odd 'question mark inside of a black diamond' symbol. Below is a screen shot of the problem which is affecting all of our item descriptions and content pages, of which there are hundreds of thousands:

Attachment 12760

So, this is a major problem for me. I would like to resolve this without removing the module, since it's exactly what I was looking for. I will remove the module if needed though, but am not sure what the focus should be to remove these symbols.

Lastly, it's worth noting that I'm using Zen Cart v1.3.9d. We installed this from the version compatible with v1.3.8.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

184 pages of this thread. :)

I managed to fix some of this manually by replacing bullet points and other punctuation marks with with their respective entity codes such as • - I'm not sure if it's completely resolved though... it's a start.

You will encounter some heartbreak when you try to add mods. WOZ conflicts with many of them.

THIS IS A DEAD UNSUPPORTED, POORLY WRITTEN (yes I said it) MODULE..

Re: Wordpress On ZC [Support Thread]

Hello everyone. I'm revamping my company's website and need to move the Wordpress blog. At the present moment, it's embedded inside an Easypage. This is causing display issues, not not mention you can't email/post a direct link to a specific blog entry.

Here what it looks like now: http://www.foursevenfive.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=15&zenid=66bda865ff8d4d6cf8fb0e030737e25b

The blog is in a folder http://www.foursevenfive.com/blog/ but, of course, this is without the ZenCart Header, Left Column, and Footer.

My only idea is cut/paste those ZenCart elements into that blog index.php page. Will that work?

Thanks,
Andy
