Pricelist For Printing

The Pricelist for printing contribution is as good as ready.

Main features are:- Enables easy page printing

• a4 portrait stylesheet included
• a4 landscape stylesheet included
• easy number of rows and columns setting (admin)
• printing controlled by css
• select product info to print through admin (manufacturer, model, weight etc)
• prices including and excluding tax
• special prices
• profiles switchable through admin and url
• profiles configurable through admin
• extra notes fields (optional)
• and more?!
  Sounds great? B)
  There is a downside: I don't know all about zen-cart yet and this price-list has a lot of new features compared to the "old" osC version, so I hope someone will volunteer to beta test before it's uploaded. So send me a PM if you want to help (but never for free personal support).

If I don't find a beta tester, it will be uploaded within a couple of days too, but there will probably be a few more bugs and alike issues then.

Unfortunately there are some problems with some of zen's special pricing features, other than that everything seems to work fine. Maybe someone who's knows more about the special pricing would like to help a litte?

This contrib and the site map certainly make great "spider food".Yes, it's originally made to be a printable price-lists, but indeed it's also a handy all products page with quick links to all product_info pages.(and a.o. the notes fields make it a printable inventory list too, i.e. to check your real stock once in a while)

Anyway I'm glad you like it's always nice to have some feedback :)

Note: I forgot to mention in the announcement that this contribution would never had become what it is now without the help of Carine! We developed the osC version together, so this is partly a translation of the osC version, allthough the zen version was the first public version with profiles.

At present you need to use the back button on the browser, which some customers may not think of using and so may give up (unless I'm missing something...?)

The install info perhaps also needs to mention adding a define to the english.php file:

I'm sure that it can be opened in a new window, but it really should not be needed. Maybe you can explain more about this problem? (it's certainly possible that I am missing something too :) ).

I just came back from a holliday, no time to install (or even download) 1.2 yet. I hope to get to it soon and to be able make the pricelist to work on 1.2 also of course (if anyone else already has got it working please tell how you did it, or even better, upload the adapted version for 1.2 yourself :) ).

Just one note:

I see there are two pricelists at the downloads now. They seem exactly the same (except for one totally unimportant file missing in the second upload). I'm 100% sure I didn't upload the second one (only the first one), so I wonder why it's there? :huh: Is it an upgrade somebody did without changing the version number and readme file? Or ???

Well I finally found some time to install the price-list on v1.2 today. There were three issues I run into for now and also found solutions for :D :

1. if you have installed zen-cart v1.2 using a prefix for the database tables you will have to change the sql files accordingly. I will post the code for the three profiles sql file and the remove sql file in case you have used "zen_" as table prefix (for code see end of this post).

2. if the show boxes in admin is set to true (setting almost at the bottom of each profile in admin), an error occurs. It seems to relate to the new way the box templates work. For now I found a quick hack that resolves this problem:

in "zencart\includes\templates\template_default\templatestpl_pricelist_default.php " find (approx line 57):

if (PL_SHOW_BOXES == 'true') {

and replace with:

if (PL_SHOW_BOXES == 'true') {

(as an alternative, if you really don't need the currencies and languages box at all, you can also switch the show boxes of in the price-list profile settings)

3. Also the logo image doesn't display anymore, I suppose that can be resolved by placing a new logo at "/includes/templates/classic/images/logo.gif" as a quick hack for now (hope to find a more elegant solution later).

As far as I can see after only a quick test everything seems to work fine after those small adjustements.

B.t.w. there hasn't changed much other than what I posted here already. There's is a small update included to make the active/inactive categories work, I can post that change here if anyone needs to upgrade (but not before tomorrow).

a question though, how do i change the width of columns? i've got the column width set via the css files... but need to change the price and model colum width to 100px each. i also need the product cell to be left aligned and the two afforementioned columns to be right aligned, all vertically alligned to the top. is this css too?

i only need 1 profile, a4 portrait, to do this on.

how do i change the width of columns?indeed all those settings are done through the stylesheet. I would not use pixel sizes for printing though, it's better to use cm's, inches or pt's for printing (because there isn't such a thing as pixel paper sizes).

For your purpose you can take the current profile-a4-portrait stylesheet and edit it. The CSS is a bit more complicated than normal because there are different settings dependant of the number of columns (=>the number of price-list tables next to each other per page), but I tried to explain some of it by adding comments to the stylesheet. Also the width of the table cells itself and the div's inside it both have to be set (the div's are being used to cut of the content if needed by assigning a overflow: hidden to the div's, it makes sure your print will always fit the paper).

Some width settings for one column printing are already set i.e. between the / one column settings / and / end one column settings / comment lines in the stylesheet for example.

It's all not really difficult, but it's not very easy to explain in a few words too. So I hope you"ll be able to sort it out,

Love the price list mod...

Heres a sugestion though,

I Think it'd be great if you could say have all products and categories dwitched to show in the pricelist by default however if you could then add by means of say a tick box within the categories page and by each individual product as well would be great

I use the mod at present but would like the ability to select the individual parts to display as i am gettin on for displaying more that will fit on 1 page using 3 columns so if could say go into a category and say only display 4 of the products in that category then i could drill down the amount of products displayed and give a better range of products on 1 page rather than having 2 pages. I know this can be done by just disabling the products in zen but this would also stop them from showing in the catalog also.

I have already done the winmerge thing to compare ~custom/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php with ~/default/sideboxes/tpl_categories. But was unsure which lines to bring accross and which were superseeded by the existing/most recently built code. Will look out for 'CATAGORIES_BOX_HEADING_PRICELIST','Price List' and make sure I include it and try again from there. Will have to wait til tonight when i can get back to my FTP.
