Stocks by attributes

creinold:

Yeah I will, just making sure no more problems crop up with the updated files... =)
Okay.. I am only two seconds in my testing, and I already love this.. In fact I will go out and say that creinhold may have the first post 4.7 version of SBA that I might actually USE!

I already like the fact that you fixed that MESSY AS HELL admin layout that each and every 4.8 SBA variant I looked at had.. Who could be impressed with Ajax when the damn admin page for SBA was a such a bloody LOOKING mess!!??

Equally impressed by the fact that I no longer have to select products to add variants.. It brings products with attributes into the admin page for me..

Off to add some variants and then do some test shopping transactions..

Re: Stocks by attributes

i used this stock by attributes
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=310&zenid=91bbd21f27bf267d84098adaff829b74

it says version 1.4.10 but when you download it and look under module version, it says 1.4.11
the instructions it has is the same as the old stock by attributes thats found on wiki here http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Contribution:Stock_by_Attributes

so i followed the installation procedure that it has with it in the read me file. i installed the stock_attribute.sql in the admin.
what i dont understand is the other update_1_4_10.sql file? should i run that one also in the admin?it isnt mentioned in the read me, no where says there is two sql files
as for the ajax, its not mentioned at all. i dont know its default place, please point it out to me

Re: Stocks by attributes

Ahhh I stand corrected.. I see that there has been quite a bit of movement on this mod by the venerable Numinix.. Had I known this, I might have started using the newer versions of this add on a lot sooner..

Question to creinold:
I can certainly download it and take a look, but I was wondering what version your SBA version was based on.. I see that Numinix has done several updates up to and including the current version available which is numbered 1.4.10, but probably is in fact v 1.4.11.. Hmmm...

Re: Stocks by attributes

I am just starting to use the attribute by stock and am wondering what Sync means. Also If I have 10 attributes for one item, can I enter this all at one time or do I have to find the item 10 times and enter each one individually?

thanks,
Kathyk

Re: Stocks by attributes

i seem to be having 3 issues and im not to sure where to start

1.people can select a product without selecting any attributes?
2.if a product/attribute is out of stock it states it at the top of the shopping cart but doesn't indicate which product is actually out of stock. which leaves customers guessing to what could be out of stock
3. and last is there are way i can show the stock for each product instead of just the total stock in the product info page

I've also just installed SBA 1.4.10 onto an upgrade install of ZC 1.3.9d (from 1.3.8) and I'm also having the same problems. At the moment it renders SBA completely useless. :(

Aside from SBA 1.4.10, I only have the SecureTrading payment module and Ceon SEF URI Mapping module installed.

I can add stock and add/edit stock levels for attributes of products (in this case, t-shirts) - but even if I set a stock level to 0 for a size then attempt to deliberately purchase a t-shirt in an out of stock size, the 0 stock is NOT reflected in the shopping cart. I can even go through payment and pay for the item.

I'm not sure what's wrong but I don't believe I've made a mistake during installation - I followed the installation instructions exactly (and very carefully).

I'm stumped with this problem, I wonder if anybody else understand what the root cause of the problem is - it appears that a validation step is not being performed when the person adds stock to their cart, but I'm not expert enough with ZC at the moment to be able to dive into the code and figure out what is or isn't happening.

Did you figure out if you should run that 'update_1_4_10.sql' file also? Let me know because I'm wondering the same thing if I should run that also due to the README not mentioning it. Thanks!

I'm using zc 1.3.8a on my livesite, and 1.3.9e on my test site, both with Stock by Attributes 1.4.9 ajax (originally starting with SBA 4.7).

I had all of the above problems until I combined-merged Product Attribute Grid 1.1.1 It is listed as for zc 1.3.8 but it moved up to 1.3.9 with no problems for me.

Sample page on my live site:

A few of the files were merged will several mods, so extra care was necessary. And also, there is a language extra def'n file so if your site has more than one language, you need to replicate that file in the other language folders.

1.people can select a product without selecting any attributes?
**This is not an SBA "issue" rather it's a Zen Cart attribute setup that makes this possible. This FAQ article might help:
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=190

Do a forum search for required attributes. There are a few good threads that you might find useful.**

2.if a product/attribute is out of stock it states it at the top of the shopping cart but doesn't indicate which product is actually out of stock. which leaves customers guessing to what could be out of stock
When out of stock products are added to the cart, the cart looks like this:

Note that you can clearly see which items are the ones out of stock

  1. and last is there are way i can show the stock for each product instead of just the total stock in the product info page
Currently SBA does not provide this level of functionality

My files were original based off of Stock by Attributes v4.7ajax by Kurio for Zen-Cart 1.3.5+ =)

Cleaned up and updated it to meet 1.3.9D Modification changes.

Those were the releases where it started to go downhill. Very glad to see somebody else helping it back to its feet, dusting it off, helping it back to a righteous path.

Re: Stocks by attributes

np. A sign of how little attention was paid when the mod was updated by your predecessors!

Can't criticise people too much for trying though. The mod was in a bit of a sloppy state when I took it on too. But better that than it hadn't been written at all.

Re: Stocks by attributes

this is kinda weird as for my first issue in the attributes drop down it states select size, but you can just byepass this and just click the add to cart button. which will add the product without attributes to the cart.

then in the shopping cart it will state that something is out of stock at the top but in the product list in the cart i have nothing indicating which product is out of stock.
