Chemo's Ultimate URL's

dreamscape:

Ok, I started a fund drive over at fundable.org for completing development of version 3 of this module:

https://www.fundable.org/groupactions/zencart-seo-urls

Note: The fundraiser is open for only 25 days.

Note: You don't pay upfront. You make a pledge now for whatever amount you want to give, and you only pay if and when the fund goal is reached.

Thanks for creating this site to pledge. I just committed to a pledge and hope that others that find this mod valuable will contribute so that we can get this project accomplished. I will keep an eye on the site just in case the goal is falling short.

Considering the mod has been downloaded 1,593 you will think that it shouldn't be a big deal to get enough people to contribute.

Perhaps, you should create another fundable project site for News Article (it works but it could use some updates for 1.3.5)

Thanks!

Isaac.

Dreamscape,

In this new "3rd version", if it ever arrives, will you include the ability to replace certain non-url friendly characters with other ones? This is a problem for foreign based sites. As an example, we can't use Chemo's because there's no way to replace the æ, å, ø characters with normal letters.

You can actually make sure that the 3rd version arrives by making a small donation on the page Dreamscape created. Just a thought! Isn't cool that you have a say on whether it is release or not? :)

Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's

mafiasam:

i just signed up for adwards and was wondering about the auto-tagging option and whether quick updates will cause problems with it?
I don't see why adwords auto-tagging would cause a problem. All it does is add a variable to the query string.

And the only way I can think that quick updates would cause a problem is if you are constantly changing the product's name. You may want to laugh at the idea of that, but I actually had someone contact me one time enraged because they were changing their product names several times per week and the mod was doing funny things. If you'll be doing something like that, then it will still work but the cache will mess it up, so you'll have to disable the cache.

Yes, part of the new version is 2 plugin APIs. One for URL conversion and one for Character conversion. One of the bundled Character plugins you can enable is for converting accent & ligature characters to ASCII equivalents. It will also support properly encoding non-ascii characters in the URL as unicode data, so that you can keep those sort of characters in the URL if you want to. Although the latter feature will require that your PHP is compiled with the mb_string() extension if you are not using a UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 character set.

And that is only the downloads directly from the Zen Cart download section. The one I have hosted has been downloaded about 1,566 times since I was first released last summer.

In regard to all the requests about extending the fund time, I set it at the longest possible time. With fundable.org you can only do 14 days or 25 days. I am assuming that the max limit is 25 days because merchants are only allowed to hold an authorization on someone's card for around 30 days before it expires.

I see. Dreamscape, you do have well thoughts on how things going around.
One more suggestion to go around -- lower that target and run it second 25 days if needed.

anyways, it looks like it turned auto-tagging on by itself when I joined the google base account to the analytics account for the domain. I don't see results yet but we'll see what happens. I'll let you know.

You can read this: http://www.dream-scape.com/pub/zencart/MZMT/docs/html/readme.html and if that doesn't make sense how you will use it in real life business then this mod is not for you :)

Will your new version of SEO URLs also be compatible with the Information box links?

You'll have to be more specific. There are about a bazillion info box/info manager/info page mods.

Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's

I hadn't seen this - so just pledges up to 50-75% guys so not far to go - I think this is something that should be done as a matter of course and would love to see it as a main section of zen cart - ie in the standard roll out!!

Let us know what happens with the pledge

I'm not sure how to say it. I installed the current version of SEO URLs and everything works fine except for my Information box pages. For example, clicking Conditions of Use returns a 404 that conditions.html doesn't exist.

I'm referring to the default Information box and not a contribution.

I agree. Unfortunately, many (but not all) of the developers are pretty anti-url rewrite, or at least appear to be based on posts they have made in the past.

Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's

I am not sure how many of you know this is going on. If you want to see the next version of this mod please go to https://www.fundable.org/groupactions/zencart-seo-urls and speak with your money.

All the questions about what's going to be in the next release are great but it wont happen unless enough of us pledge money. So please go to the above url and pledge.

Thanks!

from the sound sof things though - reading through the posts - its can be turned off simply? there is heaps in zen cart I would not use but it doesn't stop me using zen cart itself - just turn it off?

It looks like the 404 header code is already there in 1.3.5, is that correct?

Thanks,

Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's

I just installed Ultimate URL's for the first time on a fresh new live shop http://www.xptrading.com/. Does this contribution needs to be installed fresh with Zencart or can I upload the files? Cause I uploaded the files and I get 404 errors.

Also are we suppose to name the htaccess file ".htaccess" or "htaccess"? the file is supposed to be located in the parent directory right?

When htacess-sample is named htaccess I get the following error:

The requested URL /2003-lincoln-navigator-w-jts-03-p-1.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ]

And when htacess-sample is named .htaccess I get:

Not Found
The requested URL /www.xptrading.com/index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I searched the threads but can't seem to find an answer to get this fixed. I can load the mainpage fine, but when I click on a product it says that.

Are we suppose to name the htaccess file ".htaccess" or "htaccess"? And for /shop/ we put in the full URL of the website correct? Like /www.shop.com/

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
