Pre-Select A Payment Option at check-out?

I have 2 payment options at checkout, credit card (via Authorize.net, AIM) and Paypal. I'm guessing most people would want to use a credit card. Right now, neither are selected by default.

How would I get the radio button to select credit card as the default payment method?

I did see in another thread someone said you could add a data piece to the database that is true or false and have the radio button reference this? I looked at the code and couldn't find where the radio button is in the html/php... perhaps if I knew this I could write the reference to a database item...

i really need to work out how to do this as i have customers who select to pay via cheque and then put in there card details and then wonder why we don't have there details so i need it to default to paying via credit card and hopefully stop this happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

go to admin --> modules --> payment
click on Authorize.net (AIM) - (I assume you have already installed this)
click on edit
there should be a Set Order Status
and you should be able to set it as default

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried your idea (and I did have Authorzize.net (AIM) installed already). But it didn't work. I believe the Set Order Status is for the status of an order after it's been placed and not selecting a default payment method.

NOTE: Order Status has nothing to do with which Payment Module is set in what display order ...

Orders Status is what the Status of an Order will be following completion of the checkout based on the Payment Method that was chosen ...

Example: If you work with Downloads, you would want you Orders Status to be Pending on Check and Money order and perhaps on Credit Card or PayPal you would want it set to Processing so that the Download is immediately available to those who pay with Credit Card or PayPal ... but not immediately available to those who pay with Check/Money Order ...

I have a programmer solving this for me. It should take some time before you receive a contribution on it but, it is in the works now.

Ok, the current code I have only works for 1.3.x working on having the programming make one for 1.2.7 as well before release. I think I will release it as part of my other contribution. I will update this thread once it is released and zencart team approves it.

Ok, all code is finsihed I included it all as one project called Zen-Cart Order Manager. Should be available in the Admin Tools section of zencart soon.

Thanks so much for this! Very helpful and works great. I installed the LinkPoint module last week, and I don't think that everyone understands that you have to select Credit Card as the payment option and not just enter the payment information. Now they don't have to remember to do that. :)

In the descrip, there is no mention of pre-selecting a payment option during checkout

Is the above link the right one?
Is this feature just not mentioned in the descrip but still exists in the mod?
