Better Categories Contrib & ezpages

Hi There

Just have a quick question! Better Categories looks fab.

How do I make an allowance for the ezpages in v1.3.1 to have the better categories look. I currently have categories as well as the information sidebox with the better categories look. I would just like to complete the left column with the ezpages also showing the better categories look

I assume that I will need to add some code to one of the files, but could someone please outline the code for me and advise me as to which better categories file I will need to place it in.

Much appreciate anyones assistance.

Oh hey man I am glad to hear you got the information sidebox to work with the Better Categories mod... I have been trying to get that to work for the logest time... do you think you could post the code?

I made my ezpages header and footer look like my better categories by just changing the css

#navEZPagesTop {}

#navEZPagesTop a { padding: 5px; }

#navEZPagesTop a:hover { }

and the same to #navsupp a and a:hover

the padding was the bit that made it work for me

Does anyone have a link to their use of the Better Categoires/ezpages? I'm trying to get the Table of Contents from ezpages into a side bar instead of having it directly in the middle of my content. I've been looking at a custom sidebox or customizing the current ezpages side box.
So, will Better Categories allow the "subpages" from ezpages be indented or minimized unless on a page within that group?

Has anyone done a "Better Categories" for 1.3 which will xhtml validate. All the versions I have seen work well, but it would be nice to have a version which Validates as well. :mellow:

shame it didnt work for you heavenly...just in case you didnt understand my post...you copy the styles from your bettercategories stylesheet and paste them in the relevant navEZPagesTop

jahgriz if you wrap the bettercategories div in a <ins> it validates

Minor glitch; in includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR_TEMPLATE

rename information.php.php to information.php.

In firefox 1.5 all works well.

in IE6 the rollovers work in the categories, but in the ezpages & information sidebox the rollovers only work on the text and not on the empty space in the cells :cry:

I don't see what is causing this in IE6. Any ideas?

I am not sure either, didn't realise there was a problem with it till you pointed it out. I hate the fact that there are so many browsers as none of them are ever consistant with each other. :schmoll:

BTW nice job!! How did you get your ezpages to have the better categories? did you use monkeymaddness's suggestion?

you wrap the <a class=...  ...</a>
with <div class="betterCategories"> and </div>

The fix is to add an image to the link like in the categories sidebox, then IE6 treats the whole cell as a rollover. I used the same image as the categories used as a quick fix, in my case a 1x1 transparent pixel.

I understand what you are meaning! however I am not sure how I go about doing this. do I add link via the admin or through stylesheet? or fiddling with the files. As you tell I am one of these people that need hand feeding :lol:

It seems that for IE6 if only text is used then the text only is used for the link.
but if part of the link is a graphic then the graphic & the text & the any whitespace is also considered part of the link, so the whole cell is used as the link.
FF 1.5 considers all of the cell is the link regardless.
Not sure which is the correct way it is supposed to work.

Attached are tpl_ezpages.php & tpl_information.php updated to include a graphic which in this case is the default graphic used for the BetterCategories. You could change the name of the graphic to use a different one for all 3 sideboxes.
