Deleting items from customer cart

Okay... all is going slowly in my redesign ... but well. I have searched this new look Zen site for the answer to this query but to no success.

I hope one of you, my fellow zensters, can lead me to the answer or just tell me...

I ran a test to see how the check out process would work. Worked great if I was happy with my order.... but, “Oh wait... The size of t-shirt I put was 4X not 2X. I will just delete that and ad the right size to my cart...” So I changed the number to 0 in the shopping cart but it just went back to 1... There is no “X” indicating I can delete or an “update totals” button that will allow users to fix the quantities.

Most carts I use for real have an option to delete the contents of a cart or change the qty. Neither of which is available on my ZenCart...

Did I un-flag something in my zealous efforts to learn ZenCart or is there a module that I need to do this in? I am using the latest version and host with Camelot Hosting...

Any help would be great.

change the option to 0 and hit the little can with the circular arrows

Nope doesn't work in fact there is no trashcan on the page just two recycle looking arrows that do nothing...

I tried ticking the box to delete nothing change qty to 0 click the recycle arrows... nothing... it shouldn't be this hard... if I... the webmaster has problems then how will my clients react?

I dont know exactly what the issue is, but Im pretty sure its related to the classic template

try opening includes/templates/ and rename classic folder for a minute and try it.

You may want to use the template_default to use as a map for custom template as its not buggy and is more flexible to do what you want,

also by default there is only 1 table. the only other tables are created dynamically for TABULAR data

This is the same problem I'm having. I don't have the "classic" template uploaded, and I haven't made any changes to the template_default file for the shopping cart page.

I can't delete items from the shopping cart page or adjust the quantities.

Actually I had my host reinstall my Zen Cart because it was not populated with more than three items so I had him reinstall it... however I was looking over my settings and think I found out why it was so... try this....

Log in to your admin panel...

Under Configuration there is a menu item called stock...

Select that.

There you should see two items...

Show Shopping Cart - Delete checkboxes or Delete Button

and

Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location

Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button
Show on Shopping Cart Delete Button and/or Checkboxes

1= Delete Button Only
2= Checkbox Only
3= Both Delete Button and Checkbox

I set mine to 3

Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location
Show on Shopping Cart Update Cart Button Location as:

1= Next to each Qty Box
2= Below all Products
3= Both Next to each Qty Box and Below all Products

I set mine to 1 here...

Check out the result... Mind you I have changed the design the site isn't really live yet so you can play with the cart a bit...

However, the shopping cart used to work with all settings, so I'm assuming this is a big ol' bug?!

I'm glad it's working at all, but I'd love to have it working with all options.

It could be that your Zen-Cart setup is corrupted. Or do you have admin leveles or a similar contributions installed that prevent you to do such changes?

I hope you are really looking at the admin menu - what options do you have there?

In case your Zen-Cart setup is messed up, you would need to reinstall it.

i am the admin and yes, i really looked at the admin menu.
did it many times actually just to make sure that am not　missing anything.
beats me ... dont know what really went wrong ...

Hi Guys,

I hope someone can help us with this same problem with the delete button on the cart not deleting but the update button works perfectly.

We installed version 1.3.1 a while back although edited the site so that only certain products could be purchased, the site was pretty miuch hacked to death.

Anyway, we added a new switch so the client can select which products can be added toi the cart, we then created a new section called shop, where all products for sale can be seen, so everything works fine and all cart functionalities work perfectly, except this god damn delete button.

So i have searched over the last week and all i really hear is to amend the stock configuration which we did and also upgrade which we have done, but the same result exists, we cannot delete any products from the shopping cart page, its really frustrating.

Anyone have any other reason why the delete button does not work?

Upgrade to v1.3.7 ... this fixes numerous security issues, bug fixes and has a lot of additional features ...

Thanks for the quck response, as i said in my post i upgraded today to 1.3.7 version and still have the same result, which file is it that catches and executes teh variables to delete the product from the cart?

Off the top of my head I don't recall the exact file(s) as it was quite some time ago ...

You might try reloading the files and directories for:
/admin

Sounds like something did not get update ...

Also check that you do not have any add-ons that are replacing files with old versions that might include this problem ...

Well i just reuploaded all the /includes and /admin folders and their contents overwriting everything in them, but it still does not delete from the cart.

Any other ideas? could it be something to do with the database or a setting i have missed somewhere?

Did you mean delete not working from the shopping cart in the Catalog or delete not working from the Admin?

Yeah, i've had too much coffee, i've been at this for a good few days now, lol.

So its the front end shopping cart page thats not deleting the product from the cart, however the update cart works fine and we can add as many products as we want, they are just not deleting.

Okay so you have something in the cart that you think should be deleted ...

Why should it be deleted is the question?

Out of stock?

Set to products_status 0 (as in not active)?

I need a bit more detail about what the conditions are on the Product ...
