Remove links at top of page

Hello.

I wanted to know if there is a way to remove the links that appear just under the banner. The links seem to be same as the links under categories; as the categories links change, so do the links that appear just under the logo. I would prefer not to have the links appear right under the logo at all.

Turn them off in the Admin> Configuration> Layout Settings> Category Tabs

What if i wanted to keep the "banner" portion of it and place different links in that area. Is there a way to do that?

You could use EZ-Pages header links.
