Installed? Now create your own template

So my template editing was going just swell until I tried editing the header.php file. I copied it from the langues/english folder, did what I needed to do and then put it into my template directory mytemplate/common folder. The new file won't apply to the new template. The only way I can make header.php file changes is by putting the edited file back into the languages/english folder.

I'm trying to change the tagline at the top of the page to the right of the logo.

Your altered file needs to go back in a custom folder at the same file level
and file structure from where it came from. It should go in includes/languages/
english/your_custom_folder.
