Flummoxed by Images: logo overriding but not tile_back.jpg

After being driven to near distraction getting the hang of the overriding functionality, I seem to finally be getting the hang of it.

But I'm very puzzled by the fact that my customized logo is showing up fine, but not my tile_back.jpg even though they're in the same dir.

I've created override template dirs as:
/includes/templates/my_custom1/
/includes/templates/my_custom1/images/
...the latter being where the two images are.

My logo.jpg is showing up fine, but not the tile_back.jpg. In fact, the default one isn't showing up either!

I found & adapted the file to edit the name of the logo (includes/languages/english/my_custom1/header.php)
in order to change it from a gif to a jpg, but haven't found any files with the text "tile_back.jpg".

I'm very puzzled with why my tile isn't showing up, but even more puzzled that even the default isn't appearing.
Can anyone give any clues?

Also, any pointers on how to set up the admin Define Pages Editor to see my customized directories/files would be greatly appreciated-- It's not at this point. I saw someone somewhere mention a tpl file, but I have come across any docs about this.

A quick note to the Zen Masters - not a complaint just FYI.

When a url is posted and it is irregular - like http://http://www.whatever.com (see url is previous post) it resolves to https://www.microsoft.com. That is strange. Certainly not an emergency of any kind but thought you would want to know.

What do you think might be calling the tile_back.jpg that it would display?

Thanks your use of the phrase "classic css" led me to the source of the problem. I had started w/ the stylesheet.css from the template_default dir rather than the classic/, not realizing the overriding order, which I surmise must be:
template_default/
classic/
myCustomDir/

If that's not correct, please let know!

Actually the order is /template_default/, overridden by any differences in /your_template/.
/Classic/ is only involved when it is selected as the active template, and then /your_template/ does nothing.
