Sort Drop Down in Product Listing?

Cart is 1.2.6, severely modded (or I should say muddled) by a variety of people who failed to use the override system properly, so upgrading is likely to be a nightmare and is being avoided...

Client wants the All Products listing and the Products Listing to look the same (both to look like the Products listing). This is proving difficult using just ordering of elements in admin>configure!

He also wants the Sort Drop Down from All Products in the Product Listing. I am well aware that the headings normally act as a sorter, but a) they've been removed and b) he wants the drop down!

Adding the call for 'listing_order_display' to tpl_index_product_list.php is no problem, but how do I get it to act correctly on the list? At the moment, making a selection puts me back to the front page of the site.

This question was asked about a year ago but the answer was limited to "Use the headings to sort", which is not what is wanted in this case.

Does it count as bumping when you come back to the same issue 12 days (and a great loss of hair) later? :wink2:

Well ... yes and no. The product listing and the other listing pages are similar in many ways and yet vastly different. Standardizing them is coming in a future edition :)
