Image Handler 2 (for ZC v1.3.8 ONLY) Support

aussiesapphire, it's a shame your Host could give you better information. If the script was working fine and you did not change anything, then it is always best to speak with your Host regarding any changes they might have made.

Using Admin > Tools > Server/Version Info, do a find on the page for:
GD Support
register_globals
safe_mode

Each one has two variables (ON or OFF), can you tell what they are?

Also, it was asked earlier in this thread if IH2 creates directories & files in the 'bmz_cache' directory, with Ownership permissions of nobody. I can confirm this is true but usually, if you cannot see a directory or file and you know it is there, it means you do not have Ownership. That also means you cannot do anything with that directory or file.

I will check the info at top but when I look at my webspace on ftp, I can see the b,z_cache directory with subdirectories (numbered and then lettered) - they have files and they are set to 777 permission.

I had watermarking of large images working but I guess when I went live with the site it somehow broke. I went to tools->image handler and it said IH wasn't installed! I reinstalled it and set large watermarking to on but still no watermarks. Can someone give me a clue as to what is wrong?

Could I get someone to walk me through the installation of this image handler. I'm really new to ZenCart, and have never dealt with an image handler before. However, I'm blind and so, obviously, images aren't my thing. So, I think this could really help the images on my site. The whole image thing is confusing to me.

From the information you have provided I can see no reason why the script should not be working. Your Hoster is your best bet for getting this sorted out.

Although it is true, most Hosters don't provide support for 3rd party scripts, it should also be true that if a Hoster makes a change and it causes problem for scripts that were previously working fine, they should help to sort out any problems caused by their changes.

One can only presume that nobody "you" know of, did some work on "any part" of your site that might have created the problem. Scripts that are working correctly do not just suddenly stop working. I've been tinkering and when I am in admin under the IH manager, I can see the watermark on the tiny samples, but when I go to my catalog, the images do not have watermarks. Any clue as to what's going on?

I am the only person who manages the website so there is no-one apart from the hosting company who could change anything - I certainly did not. It just stopped working suddenly after a break of a few weeks when I went to go back and load some new items.

I have another email into the support crew asking about it. I did notice that there seemed to be a new option in my cPanel (I think ?? - dont remember seeing it before this problem) - a new thing called Image Manager which does thumbnails and resizing. I think it may have something to do with this - an upgrade or something required to install this program.

My problem is that I just do not know enough about this stuff to talk intelligently with them so I can be easily fobbed off with vague comments disclaiming any responsibility - even if they do give me something specific I probably wont know what to do with it except to bring it back here and hope for help from you guys.

If I cant get this to work with IH2, what are my options. I really need multiple images on each item and images loaded from the main product listing page now do not work. They display after I load them in IH2 but this does not allow me to use Document-General product type. Ideas on a new direction ???

Image Manager in Cpanel would not cause this type of problem. As a Hosting Client, "your" level of knowledge should not make any difference. Support should be able to discuss any Hosting problem at a level the Client understands.

Although, here at the forum, you would get lots of people offering help and suggestions, help from your Hoster is still the best option. Even hiring someone to look at the situation would not guarantee a solution.

• your Hoster helps you solve the problem
• you uninstall (using the IH Admin) then reinstall

I am really not sure where next to go with this - even if my host does give me an answer, I dont think I know enough to understand it. If anyone thinks they might be able to help me out on a "fee for service" basis, please PM me. It might be easier to work it out if that person can log in and have a good look at my system and I am happy to discuss a reasonable fee for this job.

Just a thought or is it clutching at straws :-)

Thanks Rob for talking about this - looks like we posted at the same time. I am at work today so not really able to call and hassle the host but will see if they reply to my email and then try them on the phone tomorrow.

Otherwise, not really sure what to do. IH2 was set up for me when I got the cart customised - I have been looking after it since and have only installed one very simple mod myself (to get EZ pages showing up on site map).

What is the procedure for installing and uninstalling - what does clear the cache do? I did this originally (in desperation) and it removed all my images and I had to display each item individually in IH2 admin to get them showing up again - I am asuming that this deleted all the files in the bmz_cache and I had to use IH2 to re-create them again ??? But as I say, I am a newbie so not really sure what I am doing.

basically, I do not understand why I can load images in IH2 but not directly from the product listing page even though it says the file uploaded and saved properly AND it shows up on the Product preview page (just before you save it). It wont display when you view the item on the web UNTIL you re-display it in IH2. Maybe this isnt an image handler problem at all but something else??

Also, are you uploading images directly to the 'images' dir.? I ask because using the 'Clear image cache' option should not be deleting any source images.

Having a bit more of a look at this - my version of IH2 says 2.0-rc1 when I think perhaps I should have version 2.0

The documentation on breakmyzencart indicates there should be a pink "i" icon at the product/category page to access these functions from there but mine does not have this and I have to access the IH2 functions from the Tools menu. Does this suggest anything regarding versions to you.

I am running zencart 1.3.0 so the later versions of IH2 available for download would not seem suitable being for 1.3.5 and 1.3.6.

Clearing the cache did not delete the original images but the images disappeared from view on the web until I recreated the cached (resized from IH2) images within IH2. I did not have to upload them again - just force them to show up. I do not understand this and it is the root of my problem so still looking for an answer.

Try downloading and installing that version. I use it with ZC 1.3.6 and no problems.

check in IE if you haven't applied any patches to the files.. you will have javascript errors on rollover (if enabled)

the file located in the DL section has patches already installed, there are 3 files affected

my very helpful hosting company just replied with this:

There is nothing that we would have changed that would have caused this.
The only way we could troubleshoot this problem is if you paid for
extended support, at $39 per half hour.

So it looks like I will have to try uninstalling and reinstalling.

how would I check that - I have not knowingly applied any patches but I am a bit clueless abou this. I have not got rollover enabled so would not notice the javascript errors if any.

I will download the 1.3.6 version and see how it goes with my 1.3.0

if you dont have rollover enabled it shouldn't matter.. i don't believe so at least. it wouldn't affect your problem for sure :P

best bet is to uninstall/reinstall in Tools > Imagehandler2.. if that doesn't work maybe the fresh upload of IH files will :)

I just noticed Watermarking is not working.

I have the 3 'watermark' images uploaded to their correct dir. but it is not showing upon any image? Is there a switch one needs to turn on?
