Feature or specials on main page

Is there a way to get the featured or specials products displayed on the main page just like here http://osc.template-help.com/zencart_10092/index.php
I'm trying to replicate this template to here, http://sex-shop.sysfix.co.uk

You need to have some products in your store for 'Featured Products' to display them

i do have products in my store. I've added one and made it a featured item , however on the main page, its listed without a buy button or short description etc as the link shows

really need help with this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

no, no it's not a product i'm interested in.

If you look at my original post, i;ve posted 2 links.
The first is a layout im trying to replicate based on the old zen standards, and the second is my site.

If you look at the first link, on the page you will see Featured products.
See how the image is left aligned, there's a buy now button, more details, ID etc.

If you look at my site, 2nd link, you'll see that I only have an image, a price which is centered.

This is what i'm trying to acomplish.

You will need to re-write the main page to do what you are trying to do ...

Currently the Featured Centerbox is used for Main Page in 3 ways ...

Main Page ...
Main Page with Category with Products/Categories ...
Main Page with Products ...

You want a different layout ... so you will need to modify the layout to display your Featured Products in a different manner than the norm ...

I haven't a clue if you want a few Featured Products to be outstanding ... or if you want all Featured Products in the Centerboxes to always have a different layout ...

You need much more clarity to your posts ... :smile:

I simply want my main page ( featured items ) box to look like the attachment.
A bold heading, MOre details button and price with a short description capped to 50 characters for example.

I don't wish to make any changes to the way the display of featured items work or by priorotising. It's mainly the look and the extra information on the box I need. If I did choose to make items stand out.

What happens to the Featured centerbox when you select a Category? Should it do the same thing?

well when you select a category, the featured product box is not displayed? Am I right. Surely the products are displayed within that category?

I am only concerned with the main page at present.
BUt yes, the box should look the same no matter where it is in the shop

You'd need to re-wite the Featured module ...

Might start with the Specials module for the layout and convert that to work with the featured table as the layout is closer to what you need ...

Use the overrides directory for this ...

thats very kind of you. The files I need to look at are any mentioning the word featured and search.php/tpl_search.php

If you still have your template folder you can right click on it, click search and type in featured* which will show all the featured files.

The code will be very different as Im using the new zen code from 1.3.1 but it should help me im sure.
