Downloads not working

I have set up a lot of downloadable files as mp3, virual is checked, no shipping, qty 1000. All the files appear with green dots in attribute controller and reside in /zencart/download/

All goes well until a purchase is made and customers are not directed to a page to download their mp3.

The other attribute for all files is: option name, option value:mp3 (pop-up list in case we do mp4 or mov)

What are we missing?

make sure that your payment settings are set to processinf if not delivered for instant payment types, this will trigger the download link on the checkout confirm page and in account history
