Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

I am a newbie at this. I installed the latest version on my OSX server. All went pretty well. Today the server had to be restarted. The store both admin and customer side are now not working. I get the following:

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

I have looked at the server and MYSQL is operational. I can connect to the server. I looked at grants for root@localhost and GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES exists.

Why is my store not accessable?

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

1 make sure the right database is in the /includes/configure.php

2 make sure the right username and password is in the /includes/configure.php

3 make sure that when you made the database and username and password that you added the username to the database ...

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

Thank you for your reply. I still have the problem that the store is accessible but I get the error message 0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED when I try to visit the admin panel, I have not done any change what so ever to the store, so it was just finding this suddenly one morning, so my question is first how to solve it? and the second comment was related to some answers that I read in this post that the values in the configure.php file should be reviewd, so I was wondering why would they have changed alone?

Hope that you can understand me now since I need urgent help

Now after touching the values in the /admin/include/configure.php I have a white page only and the values are:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.mywebsite.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.mywebsite.com'); // eg, https://localhost
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.mywebsite.com');

// secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas?
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false');
define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false');

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

You should have a bit more in the file:```php
define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'none');
define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/httpd/vhosts/mywebsite.com/httpdocs/shop/cache');

?>

After fixing that, you might also try running the fix-cache-key utility in case something's gone awry in the database:

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

Which version of Zen Cart is running on your site? I ask because that admin/includes/configure.php file is from one of the earlier versions and not 1.3 - which doesn't have this line:

define('DIR_FS_FILE_MANAGER_ROOT

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

I discovered when talking to my hosting provider that they did make a change in the server, although it was supposed to be transparent and with no effects, well It had an effect on zencart and the problem was simply the cache as Dr. Byte kindly informed.

I have to say that I am using other CRM like xoops and they did not suffer this problem since they have a different architecture for the administrative section.. is it a good idea to keep this problem as an idea for future improvements?

Regards and thank you

Re: Cannot connect to to storefront from browser

It is impossible to predict what changes a hosting provider will do without notice.
Just remember to make your own backups on a regular basis.
And always do upgrades on test areas, not directly to a live site until testing is completed on your own server.
