I need a fully functional uK shipping module. The Royal Mail one i've seen floating around is not able to set shipping rates directly from Royal Mail, so you need to set zones manually. I need one that handles all of the process automatically.

Is there such a thing that exists? And if not, I would be willing to pay for someone to write it for me.

Hi I have used the MultiGeoZone module that was contributed previously by its original author. I have changed it slightly so that it allows for 4 shipping zone:

UK
Europe
Royal Mail World Zone 1
Royal Mail World Zone 2

Each of these 4 zones have 5 different shipping options available.

The attached files will probably require some changes so that they import into your configuration correctly but once thats done it should work a treat for you - works ok on my test site :)

So if we were to use this, the client wouldn't have to put in any rates/zones/etc into zencart? would he need to update the rates when Royal Mail changes theirs? and when someone buys an item it'll calculate the shipping automatically upon checking out?

My guess is that would require expert programming skills to acquire the info from Royal Mail and incorporate it into the client's database...and I don't think that's going to be cheap!

Considering that Royal Mail don't change the prices all that often, it may not be worth the outlay.

what should I put into the Geo settings? It filled out the royal Mail rates, but is there anything else to do?

This is included in the updated module that I have uploaded. I have included the current rates for recorded delivery upto 10kg, standard parcel plus the additional 3 compensation level for standard parcel. Europe and world zone have airmail, international signed for, int signed for extra compensation, airsure and airsure extra compensation.

Obviously if Royal Mail change there rates these tables will need to be updated. The correct postal rates are calulated correctly depending on the customers location etc.

It looks like the module has not installed correctly due to database issues i think.

I have slightly ammended the attached sql script with a few comments on where I think you will need to change a few values in order for your installation to work.. I am sure that someone with more sql knowledge would be able to alter my script so that this was not required but we will have to wait and see on that one. In the mean time if you have access to phpMyAdmin, use that to search for the keys that i have identified in the attached script, change the values as required and then re-run the script. Might be a good idea to remove the 4 geo-zones first from your previous installation.

There's an issue when we checkout from the cart, instead of giving us the right weight, it adds on 3 kg to the correct weight. Could this be related to the module or is it something else that could cause it?

I got it to work with the UK, but for international rates it's messed up. for example a 2.5kg packet to canada would cost me 1000 pounds according to the module. :( Really need help on this.

Hi the rates are direct from the royalmail. As for the extra 3kg being added that is to do with the package tare that can be configured via the configuration > shipping and packing section of the admin panel.

There is a bit in the admin panel that controls the max weight that you will ship, default is set to 50, I have changed mine to 10 to co-inside with the uk rates that I have. Its a pitty that we could not have two max weights for different zones etc but thats beyond my ability sorry :(

Not sure if this is what I'm looking for...I want to be able to offer a flat rate of say £1.50 unless the customer selects recorded £2.50. I also want the cart to automatically select recorded where the order total is over £40. I have limited success using the table rate shipping module, but don't like it being called "table rate". Any ideas

2Kg is the heaviest Royal Mail will ship if it's not a parcel, for weights above 2Kg they charge the Standard Parcel rate.

I know the topic is old, the module nowhere to be found .. but may i ask is ther an alternative for this module?

by the sound of it, it is so good... but i can't find it! nowhere online ( at least not for me...:( ) and even the dreamscape writer, does not respond.
i am strugling with my shipping global, that my client wants to have in his shop. he has his own transport and offers that.
That should not be a problem, but how to implement extra costs? this module seems to handle that?
