Headers - suggestions didn't work

After attempting to log-in, or log-out, from the store this error is displayed:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mwga0246/public_html/catalog/includes/init_includes/init_templates.php:2) in /home/mwga0246/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 41

After removing the apparent trailing space in /catalog/includes/functions/functions_general.php
and up-loaging it, I then get this error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ']' in /home/mwga0246/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 1197

After doing an 'undo' to restore the file and up-loading it, the error is still there.
I have to up-load the original from the zip archive.

It does actually log me in/out, but I have to load the page again from the location bar.

I have read and attempted everything I found in the forums.
Changed Recreate Session to FALSE. When it was TRUE, I got 4 header errors.

Re: Headers - suggestions didn't work

Alan-

What are you using to upload your files?

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Headers - suggestions didn't work

I'm using WS-FTP, which I used to up-load the entire package, also any other page changes. I'm using either ACE Html 4 free or wordpad to edit the files.
All other changes have been OK.

Re: Headers - suggestions didn't work

Could you also remove the space(s) and blank line(s) before the first <?php in the file init_templates.php ...

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/mwga0246/public_html/catalog/includes/init_includes/init_templates.php:2) in /home/mwga0246/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 41

NOTE: get a real TEXT editor ... not WordPad ... not MS Word ... not Control Panel ... etc.

NotePad can work on smaller files providing wordwrap is OFF but you would do better with a true Text Editor such as UltraEdit ... NoteTab Pro ... etc.

Re: Headers - suggestions didn't work

The only thing at the beginning is a Meta Tag.
No other file I have edited and up-loaded has had a problem.
The original /includes/init/includes/init_templates.php
and /includes/functions/functions_general.php had the problem before any changes and up-loads.

functions_general.php: (first 2 lines)
<META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

<?php init_templates.php: (first 2 lines) <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <?php init_templates.php: (last 2 lines) include(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'extra_definitions.php'); ?>

functions_general.php (last 2 lines)
/////////////////////////////////////////////
?>

Re: Headers - suggestions didn't work

I don't know who has touched your files if not you ... but look at the original code ... from a clean Download from here for the Zen Cart v1.3.0.1 ... assuming that is your version ... in /includes/functions/functions_general.php and it does not contain any thing like that ... :blink:

NOTE: neither does the file /includes/int_includes/init_templates.php
