Re: Editing the logos and other things

Start with the FAQ link above. There is a large section on Customizing the Catalog.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

You'll find it (the text and link) appears in quite a few places including the email files. Pay to do a search for code "powered by zen" and anything else you want to change.. (dreamweaver, etc is pretty good at finding it all).

Re: Editing the logos and other things

look in includes -> languages -> English/Japanese -> YOURTEMPLATE -> header.php

find these lines:

define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', 'make changes here');
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'make changes here');

make your changes to the portions in red. either leave them blank or add your own text.

Do you mean the meta names?

<title>Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce</title> <meta name="description" content="Zen Cart! : おめでとうございます! オンラインショップ構築ソフトZen Cart 日本語版のインストールに成功しました。 - IPod Skins Creative/Zen Skins Sony Skins Nintendo Skins ecommerce, open source, shop, online shopping" /> <meta name="authors" content="The Zen Cart™ Team and others" /> <meta name="generator" content="shopping cart program by Zen Cart™, http://www.zen-cart.com" />

You can just edit the includes/languages/english(japanese)/your_template/meta_tags.php.

But again if you do a search for the code only (say for "The Art of E-commerce") no quotation marks, plus your search needs to ignore white space, it should yield all the occurances of what ever it is you need to change.

Re: Editing the logos and other things

I will try that stuff, but I am not sure how to search all the files at once, I use dreamweaver and the php files don't even show up.

Re: Editing the logos and other things

Try just opening dreamweaver, using site manager create the site if you haven't already (though you don't even need to do that), and without opening any pages type cntl f, select find in folder, browse to folder, put your words into the find box (eg Powered by), check ignore white spaces, don't put anything into the replace box and do the search. if you find hundreds of hits, you need to refine the search..

Re: Editing the logos and other things

One more thing, I wouldn't use dreamweaver to edit the code, you should use something like notebook2, a pretty decent bit of freeware.

Re: Editing the logos and other things

Got it worked out, it was not the header.php it was in includes\templates\template_default\common\ and it was the tpl_header.php file:thumbsup:

Re: Editing the logos and other things

Actually, in ver 1.2+

define('HEADER_ALT_TEXT', 'make changes here');
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'make changes here');

was in the header.php file. In ver 1.3+ it has been moved to includes\languages\english\meta_tags.php. The tpl_header.php file only calls the "tagline" variable from the meta_tags.php define.

You should copy the meta_tags.php file into includes\languages\english\MY_TEMPLATE\ and then edit that file. If you have edited the tpl_header.php file you will need restore a clean copy so this will work properly.

While your current editing will likely work for now, as soon as you run an upgrade or patch that overwrites tpl_header.php, the changes will be lost.

Also, you can do the same search with admin > tools > developer's toolkit. Enter the term in lower left box and seleect all files then search.

Best wishes
