ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

I found a module that was made for a previous version that was made but as far as I can see is not update to the latest format. If there a help file on what to look for when upgrading these older mods to the latest version? (Older Zen or OSCommerce is the only County tax add ons that I could find). I have tried setting different zones, defs, and what not to try to work around the county tax that we must charge for our state, in addition to state tax. I found the biggest issue is incorporating a dropdown listing counties when a state is entered into the address book - was there ever a dropdown for the state field? How does the app know what state the user entered and correctly apply the tax? (I am no programmer by any means with PHP, but I have spent days staring at code with my thick head to no solution) I don't want to downgrade to be able to add this package, as I have read here to keep running the latest package. At a loss here...

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

So I should assume commercial help is needed? I have done a comparision to some of the files but the new structure is different - so I don't want to blind stab the solution. Or - should I back everything up, apply the module and submit the errors I see - any suggestions? The rest of this powerful cart is wonderful and was relatively easy to negotiate and learn. Great job!

I'm using this mod successfully with v1.3.0.1 no problems.

Clyde - So you applied the module as is without modification? If the code is backwards compatible I can apply without blowing up my installation? Can you post any updated files if needed or changes to the code...

Is great news to hear anyway, was beginning to look at paying someone to modify just to be sure. (Some of this is still way over my head as far as PHP but I am learning thanks to this forum)

No changes necessary to the mod. just use it as is.

Not ever to doubt, but I did not see the dropdown on your website - so I assume you have in it testing. I saw one folder named "blocks" that I could not find in the 1.3.0.1 installation so I was thrown for a loop. Just drop that into the overrides I assume for the correct location.

Thanks,

?????????????? dropdown ???????????

blocks was removed in v1.3.0.1

There are only two files in the MOD. one goes into includes -> languages -> English -> modules -> order_total

The other goes into includes -> modules -> order_total

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Yes - dropdown(s). Text from the release notes within the package:

Dropdown menus for State and County (if enabled via admin as described above) are shown. The php generates the associated javascript to populate the drop down menus.

Unless you do not have them enabled..... Sorry if I was unclear on this.

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Just so we agree on the correct module I ahave attached the files I have - if you could compare - are we looking at the same module/files?

Thanks again,

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Sorry, I'm using a much simpler mod called ot_local_tax that as I said uses only two files and doesn't overwrite/modify any other files.

Because of the "block" and other issues you're experiencing I'd contact the author of the mod.

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

OK - I edited the files and posted to the directories as noted in your post (same as the directions) but for some reason the module does not show up in the admin -> Modules -> Order Totals. So I am not seeing that it is working - any idea why they would not show? (I assume permissions are ok at 644 for these added files.)

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Clyde - I uploaded the simpler 2 file ot_local_tax files to the appropriate places... how do you kick the admin to that it shows as a installable module? I cannot seem to get it to show - (restart httpd, restart the server, etc..) reupload files...

Stumped.

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Sorry I was incorrect - does work with the original. Explaining, there was a modification that was made that I found based on this module (by Elizabeth) in which she used the "Suburb" field to have the customer specify a County. I assumed that since it was a simple mod of the original, and functioned that it would drop in. The text is as follows.... if any PHP gurus are able to pointout what is not compat with the the original please let a PHP idiot the heads up....

PHP file saved as text for ease

Thanks -

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

Ok - can anyone confirm if the following needs to declared first at the top of the file:

class ot_local_tax {
var $title, $output;

Rather than:
global $ot_local_tax_rate, $ot_local_tax_rate_description, $ot_local_tax_counties, $ot_local_tax_charge_tax_on_shipping, $ot_local_tax_basis;

.... Then the array with the $ot_local_tax_counties variables....

Any help would be great, as I am attempting to rule things out... the only thing I see with winmerge is that there is a reference to $taxableTotal which is used in the calculation. I could not find where the taxable total reference is in version 1.3 - anyone know what the subtotal is called in this version?

Re: ot_county_tax (need to have this I think)

ok found the problem - the array of counties that I have had a few entries that had a space in them (i.e. Green Lake) which I encompassed in double quotes. So far, it appears that the correct tax rate is set if it matches any value in the array. Is not the optimal way to do it but it will work. Maybe if I get a chance sometime I will update the files and submit - giving credit to those that really did the work. So although it was made for the 1.2x versions, it does work in 1.3.0.1 if anyone cares to use it to apply county taxes to sales orders.
