Payment checkout screen not showing up

To clarify a couple of issues brought up during the last couple of posts:

We are using the version 1.2.1 patch 1. We have not upgraded the source but are moving servers so we have installed the same version and copied code from our previous server. The site was being hosted on a shared-server but is now on a "virtual dedicated server".

Re: clean install: I installed the exact same version on a totally separate server (specifically, our company's test server which is hosted by a different hosting company). That server does not run an encryption certificate. When I test the process on the test server, I cannot re-create the error.

Because of the test server, I at first thought it might be something with an incorrect installation of the certificate also. But we hit the SSL long before getting to the payment process and experience no other problems with any other pages being invoked through SSL. I did contact Thawte, the encryption certificate authority, and they checked out on their end and said that if it was a certificate installation problem, they would be seeing an error on their end but they dont'.

I have not loaded the database on the test server but will do so to rule out anything having to do with that.

testing went great now i site is live and having this problem..

i also changed to a secure site before launch

running version 1.2- afraid to upgrade to 1.3

cannot get customers past step 1 in checkout..

Well, we may never know what actually was causing this problem as we have been pulled from this assignment. I hope everyone else who is monitoring this thread gets theirs resolved...

I traced this problem to /includes/application_top.php

I noticed that checkout_payment was not going past the following code

Though I don't know what is the problem in this code but I did a workaround by excluding this code by an if condition in case of checkout_payment.

I am still curious to know if anybody can find out the exact cause of this.
