Product listing configuration

I'm a newbie to Zen Cart so be gentle! I'm trying to determine if Zen Cart will do what I need it to do. My client wants to display products in sections but not have to make that extra click to add to cart. IOW, customer chooses a category, 6 products display in that category and all have the price, info and "Add to Cart" button. In most all of the sites I have seen you have to first click on the item and it takes you to another page where you can click to add to cart. Can I eliminate this step?

Additionally, how hard is it to add other non-shopping cart pages to the site? For example if I wanted to include a gallery page or other?

TIA

Re: Product listing configuration

If you have more than one product in a category then you will see the product listing page. This page can be configured to have add to cart buttons for each item or a quantity box and mass add button. NOTE: product detail pages are still available and it is recommeded you use them.

Adding pages is very easy via the Admin> Tools> EZ Pages

Re: Product listing configuration

Wow! That's the fastest response I have ever received on a forum! Thanks so much. I hope I made sense. Do you know of any example sites where I could see this in action? I have poked around but I haven't run into any. Most people seem to use the Product detail approach. My client thinks that is too much clicking.

Thank you very much for your prompt and courteous reply!

Re: Product listing configuration

This is an example of what my client wants:
http://www.souppeddler.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1

where the user can click multiple products one one page and then add all to the cart. Is this possible?

Thanks again.

Re: Product listing configuration

All of the Listings ...

Products Listing
Featured Listing
New Listing
All Listing

Have settings for the Multiple Add to Cart Quantity ...

Just turn them on ...

The Customer then can add what they want in what ever quantity and click Add to Cart at the top or bottom of the screen ... or, if they understand web sites ... they can hit enter while sitting in a Qty box and it will add the Products to the shop ...

Re: Product listing configuration

One limitation to that add-to-cart ability from the product list: if the product has attributes (size/color options for example), they cannot be added to the cart from the listing page - you have to go to the detail page to select the options.

Re: Product listing configuration

When viewing the category page, I want to have an add to cart button instead of a qty box (which is always set to default 0 for some reason). I know that I should be able to do this via config and the various options within but I cannot find any option that enables an add to cart button in category view. Can you point me in the right direction please...(Ajeh, I'm still thinking about when to get that work done, most likely next week)
Thanks
Pete
