Product images not showing in IE on OS X

A viewer told me that when he looks at the catalog items in the store there is no image showing up. He uses IE 5.2 on OS X. The store looks fine with IE and Firefox on Windows. Any idea why this might happen or how to fix it?

Also, he said the Add to Cart box was pushed way off the right of the screen. I think I fixed that by just changing the CSS for CartAdd to float:none

Do you have an URL that we could peek at?

Re: Product images not showing in IE on OS X

I fixed the problems.

the store banner wasn't showing, so I tweaked the CSS to get rid of the "position: relative" tag.

The catalog item images weren't showing so I just converted the code in tpl_modules_main_product_image.php to remove CSS where it now uses straight HTML, as seen below:

Comment this line out, plus the associated closing </div> tag too:

<!-- div id="productMainImage" class="centeredContent back" -->

Then tweak the Javascript code:

document.write('<?php echo '<a href="javascript:popupWindow(\\\'' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE, 'pID=' . $_GET['products_id']) . '\\\')">' . '<br /><span class="imgLink"> Click image for larger view</span><img src="' .$products_image_medium.'" title="'.$products_name.'" width="'.MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTH.'" height="'.MEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT.'" align="left" hspace="5" vspace="5">' . '<br /></a>'; ?>');

AND this PHP code too:

echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE, 'pID=' . $_GET['products_id']) . '" target="_blank">' . '<br /><span class="imgLink"> Click image for larger view</span><img src="'.$products_image_medium.'" title="'.$products_name.'" width="'.MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTH.'" height="'.MEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT.'" align="left" hspace="5" vspace="5">' . '<br /></a>';

That's it. Works in Firefox, IE on Windows, and IE on OS X.

.

Re: Product images not showing in IE on OS X

my answer to such a user would have been,

for god's sake why are you using that browser? Get a proper browser, not one that is six years old. Did you know that Microsoft do not support that browser any more - therefore there could be security holes in the browser, and there is no way of fixing them.

Personally if anyone was stupid enough to use IE5 on OSX then I wouldn't want them as a customer!

Obviously -- you know nothing about diplomacy and probably little if anything about being a merchant. Then again, some people will buy a bridge from a hobo...

Good luck!
