index page

I have installed my site without problems following instructions using a directory "catalog".

In order to access my first page I have to enter www.my domain/catalog/ and it then opens up fine.

What i want to do is just enter www.mydomain and go straight into my site. At the moment i gave created a link page index.html in the parent directory with a link to the main page.

I am sure this is easy to do but would be grateful for assistance.

I have version 1.31

TIA

Re: index page

  1. Move your files.
You can usually do this with your FTP program. Simply open the "catalog" folder, highlight all the files/folders, and drag them onto the ".." in the same window. Or, right-click on them (after selecting) and choose "move" from the menu, and enter ".." (without the quotes)

  2. Your /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php files are used to point Zen Cart to the right folders. In those files, the DIR_FS_CATALOG, DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE, (and also DIR_FS_ADMIN in admin) settings need to be updated by removing the /category references. So, edit those files and upload your changes.
NOTE: if a line has a / on the end of the definition, make sure you leave one when you're done editing !

  3. You should also go into Admin->Config->Sessions and change the Session Directory to reflect the change (remove /catalog from it)

Re: index page

Hi,
For whatever reason, when I made these modifications, the chache foler permission were reset and I got a lot of errors on my index page.

Just changing it back to 777 solved the problem.

Everything else worked just fine. :smartass:
Thanks

Re: index page

Well I'd change the folder permissions to 755 - 777 is full permissions (Read, Write, Execute for everyone) and a security issue.
