Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

You are getting the /template_default/ stylesheet instead of the /classic/ stylesheet you should be using. Either you copied the /template_default stylesheet into /classic/css/stylesheet.css, or you moved /classic/css/stylesheet.css somewhere else or renamed it or deleted it.

How did you edit the files? What editor did you use? In your file manager, can you see anything that resembles your stylesheet name in any folder under /includes/templates/classic/?

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

I don't mean to muddy the waters, but I would submit that one would never use classic or my_template unless they planned on making absolutely no changes to the template.

If plans are to change the template, one should first create the basic files for an override and then edit those files in the override directory (custom, corp_template,etc.) to get the desired look. That way, an upgrade or partial upgrade would not overwrite your changes.

There's a lot of good information about this in the tutorials and wiki. Don't try to get the information piece by piece. Building a solid foundation is imperative in Zen-Cart.

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

Yes, even if you are only going to put your name and logo on the classic template, you should make your own custom template folder.

This is a separate issue from your problem, but it would be helpful to you right now if you had your own template and left the /classic/ folder untouched - then you would have a clean copy of the classic stylesheet to refer to.

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

As dbltoe said, there is good information here on making your own template. Look in the FAQ/tutorials (link at top of this page), and in the Second step in setting up your cart - templates thread at the top of this subforum.

To help find out what you did with the stylesheet, please post the first ten lines (only) of your /includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css. Make sure it is not from /template_default/css/.
---Ok, it was as I suspected.
What you will probably need to do (unles you have a copy of the right stylesheet somewhere) is take a copy of /includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css from a fresh download of the Zen Cart files and put it in your site folder.

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

For your two pics, you will have to explain in more detail before I can advise you, as there are many possible ways to do that.
A picture of some kind of what you have and what you want would be good.

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

First, you have a logo that is 141px high, but your #logoWrapper is only 75px high. The logo forces the space open, but it may cause you problems somewhere unless you change #logoWrapper in your stylesheet to equal the logo height, or just delete the "height: 75px;" line.

Your logo is almost symmetrical, but not quite, and I think it would look good near the edge where you have it now. Find #logo in your stylesheet (separate it out on its own line if necessary), and give it margin-left: 20px; See how it looks and adjust the number.

If you have any graphics program, I think it would look good to cut out a copy of the fruit on top of your logo and put those off to the right, maybe making them 25% bigger than the logo fruit for balance. Name the file fruit2.gif and save it in /your_template/images/. Find #logoWrapper and add to it:

background-image: url(../images/fruit2.gif);
background-position: 650px 75px;/adjust to taste/

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

mmm looks tasty! :)
If you use that image for a repeating background, it will show up the rectangular white background of your logo. Is that ok with you?For a large image like that, I would suggest no-repeat; and background-position: center right;

#logoWrapper{
background-image: url(../images/headerbgph4.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-color: #ffffff;
background-position: center right;
}

The background image is so strong that if it repeats across the header, I think it will drown out your logo.

Re: header_bg.jpg>>?

background-image: url(..mytemp/images/header_bg.jpg);

First, you do not need the "mytemp"; it needs to be simply ../images/header_bg.jpg, and the image needs to be saved in your template /images/ folder. It will only be available to the template where it is saved. If you want to use it in other templates, you will need to save it there too.

You show above that your file is named headerbgph4.jpg. Is this true? If so, you need to use that name.
