Recover Cart [Support Thread]

IS it possible to add to Recover Cart Sales a "Notes" section tied to each abandoned Cart customer? Our office staff make a personal Phone call to each person who abandoned their Cart. We find that this personal touch has worked much better in "Up-selling" or just answering questions that might have been the reason for the abandonment than an e-mail. What we need is to be able to add a "Note" when we click on the "set contacted" link which turns the customers "line" red. Our office sales staff have requested a way of adding a note to each customer contacted by phone to include who contacted them and if the customer then purchased what was in the cart he/she abandoned or if the sales staff was able to up-sell the customer. Then we need the ability to attach these notes to the Recover Cart Sales Report.

If this is possible please contact me....

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

Maybe look at the Admin Notes mod - could be adapted for your need.

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

Like many people I had this problem where the RCS configuration menu was blank; only the title headings show. :dontgetit

I just upgraded to V1.5.5a and was fed up with this problem. :(

I finally fixed it. :smile:

I ran the uninstall sql then the install sql but I changed the command
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title,.........
to
INSERT configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title,.........

Now I have the menu and can update it.
Next I have to fix the text colours :smartalec:

Be warned if you try this at home then be aware I know practically nothing about sql so do back up everything first because there may be unexpected consequences :unsure:

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

I recently updated from V1.5.1 to 1.5.5a.
Since the upgrade I have a new problem with the HTML email, plain text is OK.
There are two languages on my site; English and German.
Everything works OK in the English language.

In German language I receive an HTML email but it only has the header and footer that are defined in the zen cart email template default; no content from catalog[admin custom]\includes\languages\german/recover_cart_sales.php
The German language plain text email works fine.

I wanted to test the zen cart email template default with another application but did not find one that used it; I made a developer-tool-kit search for default but there were too many results :(

Any ideas welcomed

I should have mentioned that there are no error entries in my log file.
I am using the standard zen cart green template

Making Progress :smile:

I got around to looking at the source file of the email and the HTML content is commented out with <!-- . ???
See picture below
The plain text content, which comes from the same recover_cart.php file, is not commented out.

So I made a temporary fix by adding --> to the Salutation definition, now the HTML email works!

define('EMAIL_TEXT_SALUTATION', '  <br>  --> Sehr Geehrte ' );

Anybody can offer a more elegant solution?

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

Hi Don't know if anyone can help me but I have used the recover cart plugin since version 1.3x and never had an issue with it. I have upgraded to 1.5.5a and have been adding the mods one by one that I previously used no problem however with the recover cart sales although it all installs correctly with no errors I cannot seem to send any emails. It gives me no errors just doesn't send and nothing appears in the email sent report. cannot seem to find any mention of this in the support files or posts however if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. have done an uninstall and reinstall without any luck.

Many Thanks

It seems to be working for me. Did you download the latest version from the plugin directory?

What version of Zen-Cart? I ask because the 1.5.5 version of this module has the link appearing in 'Customers' now instead of Tools and the title is 'Abandoned Carts'

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

When sending emails, they are appearing in email programs as From: Root User<actual email address>.

It doesn't appear this way when emailing from any other modules,etc.

Any thoughts on why this might occur.

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

Hi,

I just installed this mod into a ZC 1.5.4 but cannot figure out what (if anything) is going on.

The following menus have been added to admin:
• Configuration > Configure RCS (all settings currently default)
• Reports > Recovered Sales Results (shows nothing)

I do not have any new menu beneath Tools.

To test, I went to the store, logged in with a Customer test account, added a few products to the cart, then:

  • looked at Reports, NOTHING
  • looked below Tools, NOTHING

I then logged my customer account (abandoning cart) and checked both spots again. Still NOTHING.

I checked my error log, found nothing.

Is there some additional step(s) required to enable this mod? Also, is there some way to prevent the mod from automatically sending out email?

Thanks!

Linda,

It could be that your webserver is programmed to always insert a send-from "name" if it's left blank ... and this module appears to be leaving it blank.
So, you could try working around that by changing this line: 287 in admin/recover_cart_sales.php

    zen_mail([B]''[/B], $outEmailAddr, $subject, $email, '', $from, $html_msg);

to:

    zen_mail([B]STORE_NAME[/B], $outEmailAddr, $subject, $email, '', $from, $html_msg);

That's strange. It's as though it's not fully completing the installation/setup. I'd start with running the uninstall SQL script first. (Granted, the install SQL pretty much does an uninstall first anyway, but in a slightly different approach.)

In the latest version, the link is under 'Customers' as in 'Customers>Abandoned Carts'.

In terms of setting up a test to see a listing on that page, I find it doesn't appear immediately.

This did not result in any change.

I wonder if there is a setting on the server side I should mess with.

Oh my. I put them backwards. It was the "from" name that it was mangling because it was empty, not the "to" name. Try the following:

This didn't work. So I fiddled with it.

What did work was changing $from to any email address at all. Changing it to '', or just blank, or a non email address all had no impact. It is important to not as well that the email address entered didn't change the value for 'from email address' in the email sent - it always still used the root user email address.

Once I made the $from change, the STORE_NAME change you indicated did impact the reply to name (not the email address) that the email program displayed in the inbox.

Re: Recover Cart [Support Thread]

Hmmm ... I did some more digging, and I see now that it's trying to combine the name<email> into one parameter, but would be better letting the application do that properly.
I wonder if the following rewrite to that section may be helpful:

        $custname = $basket->fields['fname']." ".$basket->fields['lname'];
        $outEmailAddr = '"' . $custname . '" <' . $basket->fields['email'] . '>';
[strike]        if( zen_not_null(RCS_EMAIL_COPIES_TO) )[/strike]
[strike]            $outEmailAddr .= ', ' . RCS_EMAIL_COPIES_TO;[/strike]

        $html_msg['EMAIL_MESSAGE_HTML'] = nl2br($email) . zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['message_html']);
        $email = strip_tags($email . "\n\n" . zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['message']));
        $from = zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['from']); // STORE_OWNER, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS
        $subject = zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['subject']); // EMAIL_TEXT_SUBJECT
        zen_mail('', $outEmailAddr, $subject, $email, '', $from, $html_msg);

to

        $custname = $basket->fields['fname']." ".$basket->fields['lname'];        $outEmailAddr = '"' . $custname . '" <' . $basket->fields['email'] . '>';
        $html_msg['EMAIL_MESSAGE_HTML'] = nl2br($email) . zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['message_html']);
        $email = strip_tags($email . "\n\n" . zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['message']));
        $from = zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['from']); // STORE_OWNER . ' <' . STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS . '>'
        $subject = zen_db_prepare_input($_POST['subject']); // EMAIL_TEXT_SUBJECT
        zen_mail($custname, $basket->fields['email'], $subject, $email, STORE_NAME, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS, $html_msg);
        if (zen_not_null(RCS_EMAIL_COPIES_TO)) {
          zen_mail('', RCS_EMAIL_COPIES_TO, $subject, $email, STORE_NAME, STORE_OWNER_EMAIL_ADDRESS, $html_msg);
