Not sure what this is...

OK I just noticed this today, it hadn't been there before me upgrading to 1.3.0.1 and I'm not sure what is causing it to appear on the page or how to get rid of it...

Freebie Issue

At the bottom of the page you'll see where it says Zip Download it says:

[was: +$0.00 now is: Free]

It wasn't there before and so I'm not real sure if a possible attribute setting may have caused this...or what..anyone have any ideas as I am at a complete loss LOL

the problem is that the attribute is marked to be free when the product is free

go to the attributes controller page for the product.
on the row that shows that attribute, click the bright blue box so it changes to light blue with an X in it.

OK I tried turning it to light blue with the x through it but when I do it disables the download on me. I assume that has to be checked off as it says "make attribute free when product is free" which controls whther the zip is there or not once they check out from what I can tell. Is there a way to just get rid of the extra text there?

Or Am I making this way too complicated LOL

THANKS for the help BTW!!! :O) Just trying to figure this out. If there's no way around it then I guess I will leave it as it isn't a huge deal I guess..just I would prefer not to say anything :O)

Is your product priced by attributes?

no...I didn't exactly get how that worked LOL...so no they aren't priced by attributes.

interesting: I can't replicate that problem. When I set that attribute setting to No, it doesn't disable the download - I was still able to download after purchase.

hm maybe its a conflict between two settings...but lord knows what they are LOL Trust me I am no expert at this and mostly have been fumbling along until I find the answer :O( Obviously fumbling doesn't always work at finding a solution LOL

Guess it isn't that big of a deal...I have posted some other problems I have been having that are more worrysome to me.

Maybe as you've been so helpful..you'll know. Everytime I modify anything in the header.php file or try to do an over-ride header.php file..for some reason it disables my downloads as well. At the moment I am trying to make it so that when someone leaves a review it doesn't display their full name. The fix someone gaves me has me modify the header.php and everytime I do poof the downlaods don't work anymore. :O(

If you know anything about why that might be I would be FOREVER in your DEBT!! :wink2: :smile: as I am at my wits end about it :wacko: LOL

I cannot reproduce this issue ...

If the Attribute is marked as:

Attribute is Free When Product is Free: YES

... it will show the Option Value as: Green [was: +$0.00 now is: Free]

If the Attribute is marked as:

Attribute is Free When Product is Free: NO

it will not show anything other than the Option Value as: Green

Yep it makes the text go away but it also disables my ability to download that product as well sadly :( I've done it three times now to double check and all three times if I select no for attribute is free when product is free..it disables the download ..so when you go through the checkout it shows you got the freebie but there is no link to the download at all :O( As I said that isn't a huge deal..looks a bit odd but its liveable :O)

Any idea on the other issue?

I am so close to having everything functioning the way I want it to..just a couple little things still creating havok and all of them the end result is that my downloads stop working. And since my whole sight is zip downloaded products that's a big uh oh for me LOL

How do you have the Download configured?

I cannot reproduce any errors on the download just by marking it Free ...

I can still download it like any other download ...

When you look at the attributes, do you see the green dot next to the filename?

What does happen when you try to order it?

NOTE: check the Payment Module setting for the Order Status ... what is it set to?

I am assuming the Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD (freecharger) comes up on checkout?

Yeap the green dot is there..I tried it on a product that's been in the store and functioning fine for the last few months.

I add it to cart...go to checkout...checkout and when I get to the thank you here's you order page...there's nothing at all for the download :O(

As for how the download is configured...here's a couple screenshots for one of the freebies...as I am not sure what you need to know :O)

OK I gotta laugh I went to give you a screen shot of what it does at checkout and now it works LMAO smacks head off keyboard LOL I THINK it wasn't working cuz after I hit the blue square to put the x I was hitting INSERT at the bottom..think maybe that was botching it up...no idea why I felt the need to do that..for some reason i thought I needed to hit that to finalize it...after doing it like 20 times today finally I didn't hit INSERT and now it works...my bad yet again :blush: :wacko:

Can either of you tell from my settings above though why when I try to edit or over-ride the header.php files it disables my downloads? I am trying ever so hard to make my reviews display only initials instead of the full names and when I try to do what I was told to it always disables the downloads. I had the same problem when I added the title to the webpages...it disabled the downloads. Is it just more of ann is retardedness?

If you need something else let me know ok as the download issues in general are driving me batty LOL I swear if I touch certain files, poof no downloads :O(

HMMM as for the ZENCART Free charge thing...actually I don't even have that installed LOL Not sure that I have to :blush: At the moment the ONLY payment module I have setup is paypal..and as of right now if the baance is zero it just bypasses the paypal bit and goes straight to the DL if the order is all freebies. If there are also items in the cart that are not free then it goes to paypal and asks for the money for only the non-free items.

You know I am feeling more and more inept as I go here ROFL I am trying so hard but honestly this is the first time I have ever seen any of this stuff. I am decent with general coding luckily or I would be completely lost but not knowing much about pHp has been a bit hurtful as I am doing so much trial and error at the moment LOL. I do follow directions well usually.. though...:sleepy: :unsure: :wink2:

Like I said I am having a couple issues still with the downloads mostly surrounding that header file and I believe the meta file. No idea why unless its some setting I have wrong. I thought updating to 1.3.0.11 would fix the problem but it hasnt :O(

Is this product a special product that is both Physical and download as in the client gets both?

Downloads do not need to be marked Virtual ... this is automatic

The setting for Always Free Shipping:
Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address

is only used for a Product that the customer with Download AND get a physical product sent to them ...

Note: the Free Charger is so customers appreciate better the fact they are getting something Free of Charge and to handly $0.00 price and $0.00 shipping orders ...

I know what the option means but currently I am using it to get rid of the one graphic that comes up when you select the Yes, Always Free Shipping option. When I tried to set it to that, I get Free Shipping graphics everywhere...or am I supposed to be using the other option?

Being a download ... it automatically knows it is not physical ...

Always Free Shipping set to NO

AH ok...could that possibly be whats causing me to have issues whenever I change or over-ride the header.php file?
