Category columns

I have about 30 categories and want to be able to have more than 3 columns in my opening page where all the category pictures appear.

I have worked out to change the size of the pictures but cannot see how I change number of columns. Ideally i would like 5 if possible.

How 'bout admin -> configuration -> index listing -> New Products Columns per Row/Featured Products Columns per Row/Special Products Columns per Row

Thanks for that.

That works fine for new/special/featured products but not for the main categories.

Any other ideas....

admin/configuration/maximum values --- It is in there.
