How to change maxlength? All maxlength set to 1

I moved my zen site to a new server. The move went pretty well and zen came back. However, when you go to check out and need to login or create a new account, all the fields are maxlength=1. No zen files were changed. A working store was simply moved to another server.

Any thoughts as to what is causing this? It's a problem because the password field is set to maxlength 1 and no one can login to the store.

What are the specs of the new server?

  • MySQL version
  • apache version
  • zen cart version
  • mods installed?

Re: How to change maxlength? All maxlength set to 1

I ended up resolving this by recompling apache with phpsuexec - which is what the other server had. Not sure what (or if) there is a true correlation between the two but this problem has gone away since the recompile. Thanks for your help.

Re: How to change maxlength? All maxlength set to 1

There has been some odd setting that have occured with some servers where they do not report back the proper info from the database and thus the length comes back as 0 and 0 + 1 is 1 ...

Thanks for the update ...

Re: How to change maxlength? All maxlength set to 1

The obvious question should be, why do you even need to consult a database to set the size and maxlength of a text box?? Just a needless layer of abstraction begging for bugs. I downloaded 1.3.5 recently and the problem is still there. Seems like someone might want to check on this more diligently since I am forced to update tables manually for the time being. Or better yet, JUST SET THE SIZE AND MAXLENGTH DIRECTLY IN THE CODE FOR THE NEXT RELEASE. (What a concept!)

The function sets the sizes based on the field length and they grow based on automatic changes you make to your database ...

If you cannot determin these settings from your MySQL database due to a misconfigured site ... what else is broken with your hosting site?

Re: How to change maxlength? All maxlength set to 1

It'd be nice to be able to delete posts, so I could tone down my last post.
I dug into the code myself and saw what you guys were trying to do. It basically falls apart in the query_factory.php file, right at the bottom, on the queryFactoryMeta class. The mysql_field_len and mysql_field_type calls are not working, but it seems to be only on certain servers that they don't work. Perhaps it's the version of the mysql php module that causes the problem if it's too old...

It does not work for you as you have server errors ...

Have your host fix the server and MySQL ...
