help required removing 'tick' in header

Hi there guys, i've been searching the forum and messing around with code for the past 2 days and can't seem to get this to work. I would greatly appreciate any help you could throw my way kind sirs.

I would like to know how i can remove the '|' in the top left hand corner, it is the '|' originally in between HOME | LOGIN. Hopefully someone could direct me to the file i need to edit to to remove the '|'.

Could you be so kind as to point out where in tpl_header.php as i've been looking at it thoroughly but to no avail. I would so appreciate it if you could point out the line i need to go to or past some code for me to search.
