Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

Hello,

Does anyone have or has put together a user's manual? This would include such things as product entering, processing orders, etc. Not developer things, just user. If there's a manual with user information in it along with developer information and the developer stuff can be stripped out, I'd love that, too. It's easier to strip out rather than write from scratch.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

Hi, Firstly thanks for developing Zen Cart its a great system. As per previous posts I'd love to get a copy of a user manual specifically tailored at the Shop Owner not the developer.

I'd like quick and easy reference as to how to do the following:

  • Add a product
  • Add a product with multiple attributes
  • Stock Control Guide
  • Adding multiple images to products
  • Updating shipping info
  • Changing the content of information pages
  • Newsletter, how to
  • Coupons, how to
  • general overview on how to use the admin section

Does anything like this exist, or is literally a case of teach yourself? How do you teach no computer literate people to use the admin section?

Re: Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

At this time the FAQ section answers all of those questions and more. There is not a compiled manual at this time.

This might be of some help. I don't think the author is associated with Zen Cart, just a user who has put together a manual:

Re: Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

The link above is a very old collection of FAQ articles combined into a PDF for printable reference. It used to be hosted on the Zen Cart site.
But things have changed ...

There is a comprehensive manual now available.

Check it out here:

User manual should be available freely so that real benefits from this great open source could be achieved

Umm... so the person who spent months writing the book should not be allowed to get income from his work?

And all the free knowledge is available on this forum.

If you want it in a convenient, easy to read format, you get to pay for the book.

There is no law in the world that prevents you from writing a really good user manual and giving it out for free... When you have written it, typeset it, repro'd it and printed it, PM me and I'll give you my postal address so you can send me my free copy...:P

Re: Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

I was looking for something similar and Google lead me to this thread.
*edited

Since I have "borrowed" from their work, I think, in the interest of open source community, it is only fair to pass it on to others who may need it.

Re: Looking for a User's Manual - not Developers

It's an admirable start... but covers just one small facet of the administration of a ZC store.

Goh Koon Hoek's book (also available as an e-book at a ridiculously low price) remains the definitive work on how to manage your admin panel.

It is still my ZC admin "bible" - and should be part of every ZC store owner's library.

Your links have bee deleted. Open Source is one thing, stealing someone else's copyrighted work and distributing it as your own is illegal, immoral and unethical.
