Featured products random issue

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is an expected behaviour or I have set something incorrectly. On the main page of the client’s site, I have “Featured Products” and “New Products for the month” in the center column. Both boxes are set to show 9 items (3 X 3).

Since there are more than 9 items, the items are suppose to randomly rotate. That works fine, except that some items are showing more than once. There are current 35 new items added. They are also featured items. But instead if showing 9 unique items, I may get 4 unique items and the remaining 5 are repetitions of those. I am sometime even getting only 2 unique items (with the rest copy of one of the items).

What I would like to show are 9 unique items, randomly selected. Is this possible?

Hi all,

Anyone has any ideas on how to fix this? In the center column, same product shows up multiple times (randomly), even thou there are more than 9 products in the database.

Uniqueness should be maintained within each section.

1. What version of Zen Cart?
2. What mods/contributions/addons have you installed?
3. What version of PHP?
4. What version of MySQL?
5. Are any of these products "linked" to more than one category?
6. Are any of these products "copied" to more than one category?
7. Are the links to the duplicate products all the very same URL? Can you post them?

How come if those are all the same product that they all have different names? And appear to just have the same image ... :blink:

Ok, I am an idiot. Linda when you pointed out that they all have different names, I went and looked closer and indeed they do have different name, because they are different sizes of the same product. So, the cart is function correctly (its my brain that’s fried).

What I should have done is actually, put in the size attributes, instead of creating different product items for each size.

Thanks for the update ... peeking at the image you posted I had to get out the big glasses ... but then I could see much better ... :eek:

and .... my oh my, what big glasses she has !!!! :shocking: :eek: :p

Not big ... just two pairs and perhaps that magnifying glass with the light ... it's not like I am blind ... just need a new prescription ... bad ... :cry:

If I were an optician, I would give you a new prescription Linda….but I don’t think there is anything wrong with your eyes, its just the rest of the world that’s out of focus (we need to be in sync with you)…:).
