Mass Category Change?

I have imported via Easy Populate the products from my store on Stores Online. However, the stores online export file does not contain the category of the product...just another gripe I have about them. So, I had to import all of my products into one category (its too time consuming to go through each product and key in the category). Right now I am using the move feature in admin to move each product to the correct category. But I am wondering if there is a tool or mod that can let me move more than one item at a time.

One option is use SQL against the database. You would be updating master_categories in the products table and categories_id in the products_to_categories table. You might have to use products_description to determine what category to use.

Also, do a search on Quick Updates Admin Extension. It looks like it would work for you.

I'm looking at this same issue right now. There was a contribution in the archives called category copy, but I have no idea what it will take to modify for the current version (it was written 2004). I'm sure its similiar to the osc contribution where you could move large amounts of products within one screen. Really handy tool, but I'm not really sure how many changes have been made to the admin files since then or what it will take to make it work.

Anyone familiar with this contribution?
