Changed language flag icon, where to put it?

The standard flag icon for Japanese has no border and so on a white background, the edges don’t show up. I made a new image with a slight shadow on the edge... and uploaded it, but now I am wondering where to put it.

I tried putting it in:

store/includes/languages/japanese/my_template/images/icon.gif

but it doesn’t want to show up if I leave it there...

The original position is:

store/includes/languages/japanese/images/icon.gif

Perhaps I don’t understand the template system... or it does not apply to images??

Thanks....

Re: Changed language flag icon, where to put it?

The icon is representative of your language. Therefore, it goes in the image directory immediately under the includes/languages/YOUR_LANGUAGE/ directory.

Includes/languages/japanese/images/icon.gif in your case.

Depending on your host, uploading the icon.gif can be difficult to get the system to accept the overwrite. Make sure it does overwrite or you will continue to see the old icon.

Re: Changed language flag icon, where to put it?

Thank you HTH...

The reason I felt I had to put it in my_template01 was, when I upgrade later, it would get replaced by a the new version, would it not? If I do a total upgrade at some point in the future, I don’t want to have recreate such icons again...

The over-ride system is to overcome that problem, I thought.

Re: Changed language flag icon, where to put it?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but...

I believe the folder for Japanese is separate and would have to be manually added. Regardless, I never overwrite without having a GOOD backup and using WinMerge to see what's being changed. ESPECIALLY with modules!

and ... HTH is for Hope That Helps:wink2:

Re: Changed language flag icon, where to put it?

Thank you!

Yes, you are right, I added the Japanese pack manually, but if I should ever go to full Japanese version, then I guess I would have to watch out... That is why I tried using my_template01 but I could not get it to work, which surprised me.

I would have imagined the overrides would work for every aspect of the installation. If you can tell me how to do it, ie. where you would put the graphic, I would still like to do so...

Thanks!
