Re: contact us/not sending email

Could be a number of factors, including:

  • email server not recognized or properly configured
  • malformed email address

To determine email server settings, need to set the proper "email transport" method suitable for your server. Some experimentation may be required. May need to set the SMTP options too.

What version of Zen Cart?
What version of PHP?
What webserver software? (Apache/IIS/etc)
What server O/S?
What language is your site configured for?

That info would help.

It could also be some other things.

Were you using as the input for the email address in the contact us page the same email address you use for your website? Were you using a fake email address based on your own domain?

Re: contact us/not sending email

Well I'm not a great fan of Free BSD - running PHP as a cgi executable always causes problems.

Sendmail should be working but you can still check it out in your admin panel under Tools --> Server Info

Also check the Zend Optimiser version. It should be 2.5.7 for that version of PHP, but hosts have been known to upgrade PHP without upgrading Zend Optimiser.

4.3.11 is a pretty old version of PHP anyway, but hopefully they have patched it.

Re: contact us/not sending email

Those settings look okay to me - provided that 'sendmail' is compiled into PHP on your website's server.

Crud, I'm apparently having the same problem. Have contacted my host service for assistance too.

email address to send mail to (from the contact form) has been verified to function (am reciving paypal notifications fine to that email address)

Email Transport set as SMTPauth (I noted on my cpanel that outgoing mail server requires authentication)
SMTP Email account mailbox has been tried as both user+mydomain.com and [email protected]
SMTP email account password doublechecked to be entered correctly
SMTP Email Server port verified using admin->tools->Server info.

What version of Zen Cart? 1.3.0.2
What version of PHP? 4.4.1 (Zend: 1.3.0)
What webserver software? (Apache/IIS/etc) Apache/1.3.34
What server O/S? Linux 2.6.9-5.0.3.ELsmp
What language is your site configured for? English

I appreciate the assistance & suggestions!

Re: contact us/not sending email

ugh - have been able to send other email from zencart (installed newsletter subscribe) and also gave a try emailing via the admin tools.

Looks like email settings are good, but the Contact Us is not working.

Suggestions?

Re: contact us/not sending email

hot dang.
clearly it's pumpkin time for me.
I the issue was staring me right in the face and I didn't get it until I read this thread:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34999

have to have the info inputted into the settings as follows:
Name <email address>

not just
email address

if that makes sense.

Re: contact us/not sending email

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.
