Product Options Values Length

I have a text attribute that is set with a length of 80 chrs, however although the entry accepts this when the order is received the entry is truncated to 64 chrs.

I've had a look in the database table orders_products_attributes (v 1.2.6) and see that products_options_values has a 64 chr limit which seems to be the problem. Can I increase this limit eg 128 without causing a problem elsewhere?

In older versions you have to manual change the field length in a couple of tables ...

Are you able to upgrade?

If not, in v1.3.x we changed the table fields to:

ALTER TABLE customers_basket_attributes CHANGE products_options_value_text products_options_value_text BLOB NULL DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE orders_products_attributes CHANGE products_options_values products_options_values BLOB NOT NULL;

NOTE: This would have to be tested to assure that this is enough of a change in your version ... I am pretty sure that is all you will need ... I think ... :blink:

You're welcome! One other tip - I removed the <nobr> that was wrapping the attribute option value in tpl_checkout_confirmation.php around line 110 so that long message values wrap rather than push the page out.

I had already changed the varchar on Table: orders_products_attributes / products_options_values to TEXT before I read this thread, so before I excuted the SQL you provided, I changed the BLOB to TEXT. It worked, as did the removal of <nobr></nobr>

I am trying to lengthen the field length in the option names. I have searched in the db, plus tried the statement above, which generated a phpmyadmin error message about my syntax

Change the Length/Values from 32 to 64 or the size you need up to 255

When you say longer in the database ... do you mean after the fact you are trying to update the Option Name in the Order?

For your downloads issue ... I need an URL to your Product that isn't working ...

Sounds like you do not have the Option Name set up as either a Radiobutton or a Dropdown ... or You do not have a default set so the Product gets added to the Order without a Download attached to it ...

I just fixed it as I was in the wrong field earlier, this time I increased the characters to 64 in products_option_name.

As far as the all attribute items which do not get added to the sales reports to show total sold, this is one of the items that has been dowloaded both in single files and the whole album:

I have them set up as checkboxes. I thought in order for them to be able to select more than 1 item, we had to use checkboxes.

This one confuses me a bit.

If it means that am I making one of the downloads a default that is already checked? The answer is no as the client didn't want one checked by default.

If it means if there are any other regular products (such as the cd hard copy) for sale on the same product page as products for download. The answer is No, not on any of the downloads sold thus far. They have been ones that are all downloads only with no physical item listed.

If you use Radiobuttons or Dropdowns you need multiple Option Names and matching Option Values ...

As checkboxes ... the only concern is has something been selected ...

If selected great ... if not there is not a catch for that ... yet ...

Your checkboxes are good in that you can selectively choose who is wanted ... but nothing blocks that Product from being added with nothing checked, at this time ...

If things are checked, they show in the Orders ...

If nothing is checked nothing shows in the Orders and the customer gets nothing ... although you gots money depending on your setup for pricing ... :eek:

You can also, and probably want to, remove the nobr tags from admin as well. I found them in the file "orders.php" around lines 362 and 365.
(older version of cart, so don't count on the line numbers.)

If things are checked, they show in the Orders

The items checked for download are showing up on the invoices, the payment, and paypal areas.

Where they are not showing up is in any reports. This part is crucial as they will soon (after upgrade to v1.35) have 2 added fields, UPC Code and IRSC code (which get assigned to each individual song for downoad) which have to be accounted for in daily sales to their governing bodies.

NOTE that you'll also have to manually change any existing text boxes' settings in order for this to apply to them. Any NEW Option Names that you create with a text type will automatically inherit the new settings.

Oops. Never mind, I just found that this can be configured in the Option Names editor by changing the number of rows.

Can anyone confirm this is still the way to go about this?

Just wanted to check as the thread is a few years old now. The maximum length in my admin doesn't seem to change the characters and length allowed.

Just edit the Option Name you created and change the rows for multiple area ... then add the limit on charcters ...
