Categories Drop Down Box?

Is there a contribution for a categories to have a drop down box? This new site I'm working on has 30 categories and hundereds of subcategories. It would be great if a drop down were to be available as it is for manufactures.

Any ideas here would be great

You mean like Category Drop Down Select Menu in Downloads?

unfortunately no. That add-on is in a "exploded tree view". With lots of sub-categories, the menu gets un-navigatable.
