Remove space below header

Thanks for the tip. I tried it in Firefox, but no luck. I'm really just fooling with a prototype for someone who probably won't use it, so it's really for my own experience/education.

I think it's got something to do with the logo. I should tinker with it some more.

Got a link we can look at?

There aren't any products, but this is the version that works.

Try line 185 with a change from> #headerWrapper {_margin-bottom:-2px;}to> #headerWrapper {margin-bottom:-2px;}

According to kuroi, the underscore indicates that it's for IE only and doesn't interfere with other browsers (see kuroi's post earlier in this thread).

That version of the template seems to work ok. I'm not overjoyed with it, but I'll probably change it again at some point.

I too saw that and did some research because firefox throws an error with it set that way. Also, TopStyle throws errors for CSS levels 1 and 2, IE versions 4-6, Netscape 4/6, Opera 5/6, and Safari stating that > a "_" should not precede the property name. Perhaps IE6 ignores an underline in the selector> #_headerWrapperTopStyle doesn't specify what "older browsers" will ignore the selector.

The url I sent you works in both IE and FF (as does the site in my sig). Other versions of that template either have the line in IE and not in FF or in both. Very odd. Since I'm playing with that mostly as an exercise for myself, I figure this is just part of the experience. :blink:

Well, I finally had to make a move and move it to 1.3.7, my god, what a headache...

ok, white space issue as well showing in IE only and I've pretty well did all the tricks found here, so I'm missing something. Basically it's a complete redo of the current store.

So, any ideas for the white space issue in IE, it is just below header and shows as a break (about 1 px)

must admit, I really hate the way it takes to build templates, even though I know many find it easy, but so many differnet independant files create havock and I'm sure many would agree even with all the overrides.

Why can we not just have one index file and one css file for templates that would call up language files as required via the core. That way updates would not effect your template other then needing maybe modifications to match the core update.

Might go away if you added no border to the image but I wouldn't worry about it myself. You really have to know it's there to worry about it.

Things I would consider are:1. Lose the banners till you get some that compliment the beautiful design of the site.
2. Turn off the breadcrumb on the main page. It will make it flow and look much better.
3. Try something like "What's New?" versus the longer "New Products [more]" and "Have you seen?" will fit better as well.
4. Lose the IP address at the bottom. Only scares folks away.
5. Experiment with a different color (perhaps a blue from the butterfly or green from the petals) to use for the box headings. They're a little difficult to read as they are. (note: for a while now, the template has used a different font for some headings. Thus the difference between the Search and Members headings.)
6. Try adjusting the navCatTabsWrapper and navCatTabs to get rid of some of the blank space surrounding "Fine Fragrances".Otherwise, I think you've got a great design going. As long as you don't click on French:eek:

Thanks, took your comments and made do, but that sneaky space still shows in IE.

As the Cats fill up that will also take space, quite a few cats to set up as well.

As for the French, lol...lot of little things to fix there.

By "Are both sites 1.3.7?" do you mean the test site and the site in my sig? If so, the answer is yes. I recently upgraded the one in my sig from 1.2.7 to 1.3.7 and thought I'd play with 1.3.7 a bit more.

I'll have to look into the empty <li>. It's possible I goofed. :shocking:

Thanks for the comments, after almost 2 weks going up/down sideways and finally a mid-air stall, the little bugger is no where to be found...:lamo:

So, anyone got any clues. Nothing to do with any addons either as this was there from the first. I'm using the 1.3.7 classic template as the base as well.

as well, This is a pure clean new install, not upgraded or imported.

So, it's got be stumped

Some one out has got to know this, I've seen quite a few sites producing the same issue. And if so, I bet they have also used the custom template to work from. So, anyone find a fix?

I had the same problem and solved it by changing the logoWrapper height to 3 px smaller than my logo's height.

background-color: #000000;
height:115px;
}
