Custom specification option

Hello everybody

We sell rugs made to customer's specifications, and do not stock standard sizes.

I would like to be able to have , on the product info page, an additional 3 boxes with 1 decimal place where the client can add in their required dimensions. One box for width, one for length and the third will then, on a button click, display the area size of the rug. The single decimal place is fine for metric applications, but a couple of possibilites are:

Metric or Imperial/US:

Widths and lengths to be given in "/cm, so no decimal required

Metric:

1 decimal point eg: 1.3m width 2.7m length ( a possibility here is that the decimal works like cash point machines. You enter your requirements and the decimal shows automatically. So if you enter 3, 0.3 will show, so the client is prompted to enter the size correctly

Imperial/US:

Whatever an imperial "decimal" place is called: 3'6" width 8'6" length - so here a possibility is to have a little box for feet and another for inches

The coding then calculates the area size. This info is then multiplied by the quantity entered in the add to cart box, bringing the weight in as well for shipping,
and I can be on the beach taking orders after the client has decided whether the products wanted fit in their budget.

Gee I'm glad we converted in 1970 - how may yards in an English/American/Nautical mile - wow man it's confusing. But then a metric dozen wouldn't be too romantic.:D And the other thing was getting into the sea when the temperature was 23 deg C didn't sound as inviting as 76 deg F

Anybody there who can help?
