Newbie guide to upgrade..HELP

Im going from 1.3 to 1.3.0.1
But I don't seem to get it, I downloaded the upgrade pack, should I go through and replace all of the files in there and then go to my site and install, I'm so lost on this, I read it all, I have searched, but I just don't get it.

Re: Newbie guide to upgrade..HELP

It should be fairly straightforward, provided you have not made too many changes to your v1.3. code and have used the override system when you have.

If this is the case then backup your database. Then simply upload the entire changed files fileset (in their directories) to the root directory for your store and run the zc_install utility from a browser window as you did when you originally installed (except its quicker and easier for an upgrade).

Then, if you have changed any files, e.g. templates, you will want to consult the docs/changelog-v-1-3-0-1 file to see if any have been updated in this release, and if so decide on a case by case basis whether you are happy to stay with your version or reimplement the change on the 1.3.0.1 version.

Re: Newbie guide to upgrade..HELP

You are truly on a diffrent level than me Mr. Black. Umm....I have set up my site, but was trying to use the ez-pages and was having problems and read that I should update, so I did, now I am getting errors when I try to install. Right now I am trying to go back to the way I have it untill I understand how to do this, do I transfer the files through ftp, or do I just transfer the install folder and does that do it all?

Re: Newbie guide to upgrade..HELP

You unpack the download and open up the "zen-cart-v1.3.0.1-changed-files-only" folder until you are looking at four folders (admin, docs, includes and zc_install) an install file and an ip_main_handler file.

You then ftp the admin, includes and zc_install folders and the ipn_main_handler file to the difrectory on your server that already contains the same folders and file - thus overwriting the files already on your server.

Once this is done, you open a browser window and go to https://www.yoursitename.com/zc_install and follow the instructions it gives you.

What errors are you getting when you try to install?
