How to upload files in admin?

Hello, I have searched everywhere but cannot find any answer.

I have been trying to upload files such as flash, images and pdf to my webserver in admin control panel without the need to access cpanel or ftp coz I dun have access to both. These files are meant to be used in product description and ezpages. There is no way I can do it in HTMLarea. I was thinking about changing HTMLarea to Xinha if I still cannot find any solution.

Anyone has any advice or better solution? Thanks...

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Anyone can help solving this problem?
I also need to upload PDF from admin directly to a specific folder, perhaps /uploads/

Thanks so much

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Admin is not there for the purpose you describe.

You have to have both FTP and C-Panel if you want to manage your website properly.

If you don't have these services where you currently host your webstore, then change your host.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Is there not a mod available for this feature, I do have access to FTP and cpanel and I would still rather do it through the admin just to save time. It would also let more inexperienced user have the ability to add PDF's.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Once again...ADMIN is not there for this purpose... GOOD Ftp and domain manager programs exist... there's no reason to re-invent the wheel.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

I have customers that need to be able to upload files and xinha is not only the perfect solution for that - it's also a better text editor than htmlarea and works with mozilla.

Never assume you know what someone else wants. As soon as I figure how to put xinha in, I'll let you know.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

I did put up a Xinha contribution which does allow the uploading of images - there's some caveats - at present, doesn't work in every situation - see this thread

Re: How to upload files in admin?

I'm using V1.3.8. I'm looking for the same kind of thing where you upload the download-able file directly on the attributes page.

Is there something like that already out? The reason I'm looking for this is that I have admins with selected permissions. They DO NOT have access to FTP to upload files.

no way to do that I know of but you can give ftp access to only one folder you know.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Thanks. Yeah, I know about the FTP. It think it can get confusing for some though. I'll keep looking, maybe I'll just get someone to make a mod for me if I can't find one.

Re: How to upload files in admin?

Image Handler 2 lets you add additional images via a very nice interface in the admin console.
