Free Template "Future Zen" v1.2 Support Thread

Also, I know this is a customization thing, but just to be sure that it has nothing to do with the template, I thought I would leave a post here. I am trying to make the site look like it's boxed in with a border all around it and above the header, but when I add the header with the border around the top and sides, the background image I have cuts the sides off instead of lining up. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it to line up? I also want to do this for the footer. Not sure the best way to go about it.

Any file that does not already exist in a custom template can be copied from the /template_default/ version, using the same subfolder structure.

Your header background image is 1400px wide, but the site wrapper is only 70%, which comes to 706px on a 1024x768 monitor. Not everyone has a widescreen monitor!

I have both the sidebox search on and the header and the search box is showing up 2 times in the side column. On is in a sidebox, the other just in the column. Not sure why.

As far as the coding goes, that you mentioned above. Where can I find that. This template only has a CSS Stylesheet. Thanks!

So how do I make the header border match up with the border I have for the background? I will show you an example.

See how it looks boxed in with a border around it? I want to do the same thing but with lines. I am pretty sure she had this template built for her, so I am just looking for suggestions. Thank you.

Yes I did, then I turned it off of single column and left it on for Left/Right Column Status and the problem still exists.

"on for Left/Right Column Status" is the problem. It needs to be off for that, which means the sidebars. Turn it on for single column, which in this case means the header.
The search header box is the only thing that uses single column status at all.

Your template has a fluid width (70%), so a fixed width header image cannot work. You need to have two containers (divs) wrapping the whole header, one holding the left side image and one holding the right side, so they can move to fit the browser window. Either that, or change #mainWrapper to a fixed width.

Like using a 900px instead of 70%?

I am also having a problem with the new products box. i did not change any coding, but just replaced the image in the image folder. I am seeing the bottom of the box put under each new product image instead of around all of them to include them all in one box.... any suggestions?

That is a defect in the coding for the new products sidebox - it repeats the .sideBoxContent div for each product, instead of having one .sideBoxContent div with three inner divs for the products. I fixed it on my test installation a couple of years ago. You can copy
/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_whatsnew.php to
/includes/templates/your_template/sideboxes/tpl_whatsnew.php, and replace its contents with this:```php

Now I am designing another site using this same template and I am encountering a different problem. The sideboxes are not showing up. I am assuming it has to do with the size coding for the sideboxes, but I am not finding where that coding is. I do not seem to see it in the stylesheet. Any suggestions?

whitedaisydesigns.net/Nothing to do with the template I suspect. It looks to me as though you don't have any products and have selected only sideboxes that would display products.

I added a product really quick and the sidboxes are still not showing up. I can post this questions in another thread if you would prefer. Just not sure where to find the coding is all, if that is the problem.

Looking at it again, I don't think you've actually enabled any sideboxes. You don't need to change any coding to do this, just turn them on the in the Admin > Tools > Layout Boxes Controller.

I have sideboxes enabled. I have about 4 or 5 on each side. They are just not showing up. I have categories, and new products, and featured, and information, a banner box, search box, and a couple others enabled. Not sure what to do.

Phew. That's a relief. I've been wracking my brains here training to work out another way that this could happen.

Sideboxes are off by default for each template. A very common issue occurs when sideboxes are set up in the classic template, and then the template is changed. Might what happened?
