Re: Help With Downloads...

Kirsten-

Welcome to Zen Cart. May I suggest you begin with the FAQ section and the WIKI. They should point you in the right direction. Feel free to post agin if you get stuck.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Help With Downloads...

You can go to Admin panel and add the products and set its cost to zero and non taxable
I am not very sure if this is the best method for this

Re: Help With Downloads...

I Tried the FAQ well at least I thought I did. I will give it a try again and see what I come up with. I am very slow and confused when it comes to the Zen-cart. LOL
But I guess I have to turn my file into a zip file. I got that. But it also ask for the file name. How do I know the file name? Is is how I saved the file?
Wow I have a lot of reading to do. LOL

Re: Help With Downloads...

Were do I find the download folder in my zencart? I made a folder in my cpanel and I ziped the Image/freebie I want them to download.
Now.. I know some what about the attributes, but I just dont know were the download folder is and how to add it. I tried looking at the FAQ and I printed up some of the answers But It does not really explain the download thing.. at least not for me.
What I did was uploaded it to my download folder on my c-panel. Then I took that http://folder and copy and paste it to the file in the Attribues down at the bottome and it says to allow a certain amount of days and downloads. Thats were I put the file. Then I would upload it with a Text file.. and it would say's with a Red dot not the right format or something like that. What am I doing wrong??

I am soo confused.

Re: Help With Downloads...

Folder should be named download NOT downloads.
Zencart looks for download folder re zip files and ignores
anything else.

Re: Help With Downloads...

NOTE: /download should be 755 ... not 777

There is not a need for it to be 777 ...

Re: Help With Downloads...

kirsten ... in your FTP program you can click right on a filename or directory name and you will see the chmod or permission settings of the current filename or directory ...

Usually filenames are 644 and directories are 755 ...

There are exceptions to this ... but right now those are your concerns ...

Re: Help With Downloads...

Ok - I think I got that.. But why when I place the file name for the Zip file into the abbitrudes.. it says the file is incorrect?

Filename: http://www.kandiesforyou.com/download/AbcBabyList.zip
There is a small Red dot next to the Filename. Not a Green Dot.

I also add "Text" is that wrong as well? What am I doing wrong?

Re: Help With Downloads...

The filenames in the /download directory should be 644

Make sure that when adding the filename to the Attribute you are typing exactly what its name is:
AbcBabyList.zip

If that is the exact name, that is what you should use ...

Make sure filenames have no spaces or special characters as well ...
