How to send manual download link without requiring purchase?

How do I send a manual download link for a digital product to a customer? This will be a courtesy to the customer at no charge.

Thanks!

Install an item as free product, add digital product to zip file, associate that zip file, via attributes, to free product you just created.

Hi Misty and thanks for responding. If I install this as a free product is there a way to not show it in the store? The item is a pay product for other customers. Would it be better to just create a special coupon code? I was just wondering if there was a way to send the download link manually or if there were other ways to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks!

Special coupon would be fine, could also investigate group download maybe.
Whatever suits you best.
