e-mails not working to office server

i think this is a verry rare problem (or not :) ) but i'm having problems sending emails to the e-mail server of the office, emails are arriving to hotmail but dont seem to arrive into the office server can anyone help me?:down:

Your office server might be configured to not accept email from anonymous servers

how can i check this?
but the server is letting other site emails trough i dont know if those are anonymous or not..

Can you test one thing?
Send an email from the server( where the cart is) to the office, and see if you get it in the office
Also, did you check in the junk/spam folder of office?
Sometimes,it just moves there for the first time!

none of the 12 test emails arrived to the office server :down:
and none of them are in the spam folder

If you check your mail logs, what does it state exacly - specifically related to these events ?

if you are reffering to the office server log... it doesnt say anything :unsure:

I'd send this unusual behaviors to the ralated web hosting service in order to take a closer look on this problem.

What is your setting for "Email Transport" in Admin->Configuration->Email Options?

if it's "sendmail", try changing to "sendmail -f"
if it's SMTP, try changing to SMTPAUTH

This will cause the email to be sent from "your" hosting account, instead of from the server in general (which usually sends as "nobody" or "anonymous" or "webserver", etc). If it's sent from a generic address, some servers will reject it as potential spam rather than send it.

i can try that but wouldnt the server show this in there spam folder in this case the office server isnt even showing an email ... like it has never been send to the server :'(

so the office server is an email server from the office using a @compagny.lu extention the extention seems to be hosted on the local email server tough so that cant ( i think) be the problem... the site is hosted by host for all but the dsn is hosted by the same firm that provides the email extention..

In that case, if it does arrive through hotmail but doesn't seem to arrive from your hosting email, like I said above, I'd definitely report this to my web hosting party in order to investigate this problem more closely, since it doesn't seem to be a Zen-Cart related issue but more likely a hosting issue.

Ure mailserver of compagny.lu is set to <IP>. This DNS settings are not set with us but with another party... meaning the office server :dontgetit but in the office they claim to be getting emails from other sites but not there own

Thanks for the update. If this is an inside-office related problem only, and you do have a certified computer technician on your team, I'd suggest sending her / him a note to see what might be the source of the problem. :thumbsup:

:down: well i've phoned the technician to but he sais if its not in the spamfolder the problem has to be with the host... => host sais => office server

anyways there are more options for the email sending and im wondering whats the difference between them?

im running on the sendmail atm but i wonder if changing it will solve the problem

If you have the SMTP address of your office, it would be wise to use it rather than Sendmail protocol. Also, you'd need to ask your technician if their related web hosting service is using SMTP Standard or SMTP authentication. Personally, due to the errors you're having, I think - also what DrByte as mentionned - that you might be using SMTP AUTH. I'd suggest consulting, from your-end, before making further attempts to your email in order, for Zen-Cart, to operate with the right email configuration. :wink2:
