im wanting to port a hard coded smtp hack and want to know who wrote this package so i can ask them where they keep the

Why hack when you can configure the SMTP settings in the Admin> Configuration> Email Settings?

i did not configure my webserver to have smtp mail.. this hack forces a connect to outside smtp mail server for mailing functions

If you set Zen Cart to use SMTPAUTH, and then set your SMTP settings (near the bottom of the list of email settings), it will use your external mailserver for sending.

where is the port number stored at? is it hard coded as port 25 in smtp.php or is it maunually configurable?

well i see a port option... where do i set the smtpauth option? is it the verify through dns?

How about just set it in the Admin email settings: "SMTP Email Mail Server Port"

i guess im more use to go through lines of code to setup what im doing.. im just not use to these user friendly options lol... i guess thats that being a coder will do to you over time lol,
