display subcategories in main center section...

I know it is possible to achieve this:
How do I display subcategories in the central main section when selecting the parent directory?

When you Click a Category ... and there are Subcategories ... it already does this ...

Have you an URL that we can peek at to see what the problem might be?

Is it possible to display the subcategories on the parent category page even when the parent category has items assigned to it?

You mean if there are products and subcategories in the same category? That's a no-no because it will cause weird things to happen in prices, searches, etc...

Categories need to hold either subcats or products, not both.

what weird things can happen?

Wrong prices ... incorrect search results ... lots of things ...

ok but let say that none of those other things mattered. prices, search results etc. it is for a directory only.

how could it be displayed?

PS. I just got the Zen Cart Book today. Awesome job and thank you to all!

Zen Cart is NOT written to work where a Category can have both Products and Categories in the same Category ...

This means:

1 no testing is done for that ...

2 no testing is done for that ...

3 no testing is done for that ...

And of course, not to meantion, no testing is done for that ...

So ... if you want to do something that no testing is done for ... you are on your own ... :lamo:
