footer not working - link to zen cart

Hi

At some point I have done something that has broken or turned off the footer.
Problem is I only just noticed and have no idea when this happened.

Under admin / config/ layout settings, footer show ip addressis is on.
I tried using ezpages to get one to work, but have had no luck.
under admin/config/web maintenance it's set to false=show.

Where else should I be looking?

I am using the old speedcom template, that has been reworked for version 1.3, perhaps this is where the issue is, but I think it was working not so long ago.

You can view the site at https://www.edhardy.com.au

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: footer not working - link to zen cart

Your problem is a bit wider than that. Unfortunately because it is a corruption of your server side code, only you can see where the problem is, the rest of us can only see the results.

As a clue however, your cart is generating HTML with two <body> tags. When the first is closed (i.e. </body> accompanied by </html>, browsers think that's the end of the page, and don't display what comes afterwards, which presumably includes your footer.

Usually this sort of error arises because somebody has cut and pasted some code from somewhere else and included a bit too much.

Re: footer not working - link to zen cart

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I knew that it was a long shot given that it’s server side, I guess I was just looking for a little direction as to where I should be looking.

Your noticing the 2 <head> tags did that. I had added a script for the rollover images to templates/my_template/common/ tpl_header.php which included a pre-loader for the images. I didn’t notice it was part of a body tag.

As for an additional </body> tag I can’t think of anywhere it could have been added.

who needs a footer anyway. Thanks for ya help.

Here's a suggestion for tracking down this little %&*£#@.

Go to Admin > Tools > Developers Tool Kit and in the bottom input field (below "Look-up in all files") type </html>

Then in the dropdown menu to the right select "All Files - Catalog" and click search.

There should only be one </html> in the Catalog (on line 98 of your index.php). I suspect you will find two.

Good luck
