"Sold out" won't replace "Buy Now"

If a shop is a show case ... then nothing gets sold as it is a Showcase and not a shop ...

yes, but ive tried it as a straight shop- no different.

and even though a showcase with prices it still removes items when they are out of stock as would a normal shop.

from what i can tell it treats everything the same as a normal shop except login.

i saw that a person changed the ''call for price'' selection to show the ''sold out'' image. that would work fine for me.

but for the life of me i dont know where the code is to change it or what to change it to.

i can get the ''call for price'' to show no problems.

i guess i could just rename the image eh?..but then i want to remove the ''contact us'' link as well.

i.e. all i want it to show is either the price, or out of stock image.

If a Product is marked Instock ... products_status = 1

Regardless of whether or not the products_quantity is 1000, 1, 0, -27 ... the Product will still show ...

If the Product is never "purchased" via an Order ... the products_status can never be changed to 0 ...

products_status = 0 are the only time a Product does not show ...

Unless you are using a template that changes the functionality of how all of this works ... you should see the Product ...

If you do not want to see the Quantity ... turn it off:

Configuration Menu
Product Listing
New Listing
Featured Listing
All Listing

Catalog Menu
Product Type ... Edit Layout ...
Turn OFF the Quantity Display

If a Store and people purchase products and you still want to show the Product after it is Sold Out:
Configuration Menu
Stock

Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to
Show Products when out of stock

0= set product status to OFF
1= leave product status ON
